That was a game for the ages. I'm nervously optimistic, but as always with baseball, the momentum can change whenever new pitchers enter the game.

In this post season alone we have a lot of memorable moments. Vladdy's grand slam against the Yankees, Springer's historical home run, and now Barger's grand slam. Even if the Jays lose, it'll have been a hell of a ride.

I found last nights Game 2 of the series a complete buzzkill.

Great for the LA Dodgers but not for Toronto fans.

So, upwards and onwards to Game 3, 4 and 5 from Los Angeles.

GO JAYS GO!! GO JAYS GO!!

We are in it to win it!!

Dodgers won 6-5 in the 18 th inning!

Now that was a game!!

GO JAYS GO!! GO JAYS GO!!

Indeed, I stayed up until 3 am watching it.

By the end of the game, I think both teams both just wanted to go home due to fatigue.

Given the timings, I actually wondered if MLB would call it. It was just after midnight in LA when the game ended and just after 3 am here in Toronto.

Both teams had used their benches up along with all their relievers. At one point, I think it was Ernie Clement who injured himself but stayed in due to not having anyone to replace him.

The Dodgers even considered putting a position player on the mound and we considered putting todays starter out there because we had no more relievers.

I think if this went past the 18th you would have seen some sort of actions taken by MLB given the situation. It was quickly becoming untenable.

That's not how baseball works, though. Maybe it will lead to rule changes for the future, but I doubt it.

The Jays made changes early and were left with an empty bench at the end. Both bullpens were done, but there are always position players that can pitch if necessary

Key moments in the Jays' loss include:

-Suspect calls where the ump considered to be strikes that ended up benefitting the Dodgers. Most notably the one in the 2nd inning with Varsho at bat which caught everyone by surprise, and they threw out Bichette who was off 1st base. Jays had additional men on base later but were unable to score. There were other instances throughout the game and later in the extra innings too

-Aggressive base running which lead to outs, the instance where they were trying to go from 1st to 3rd and later trying to go from 1st to home (?) and were thrown out

-Players subbed out early due to base running or defensive purposes, Barger and Kirk taken out. And their replacements not being able to provide any pop. Which doesn't help when others like Clement and Lukes were having a cold outing

-Schneider having Dominguez pitch to Ohtani during his 2nd homerun instead of intentionally walking him

-Jays had chances to take the game but I think let themselves be beaten ultimately in the end. Lauer pitched a gem and kept them in the game for a while. I don't even blame Little for the loss. Gave up the homer to Freeman but he was already high in his pitch count after getting through a tough previous inning and it's not like the Jays were able to get any run support anyways

I wonder how much of the reports of Dodgers considering putting in a positional player as reliever was psychological warfare to soften up the Jays focus and expectations. They had Yamamoto warming up for a bit after, but Klein continued to be dealing anyways.

Agreed but that was my point.

They were running into uncharted territory and both teams had run through everyone they had. Earlier games starting at 1 pm.. who cares if they go to 30 or 40 innings but the late games...

I went to bed at 1 a.m. with my ipad in my lap, but really don't recall much after that.

In the regular season there are rules that speed up extra innings games, but those rules don't apply in the playoffs. Maybe we'll see that change.

I went to a bar with some friends, who thinned out into the night, and finally by the middle of the 12th the last 3 of us left at 1245am. I got home and watched ‘till the end….2:50am. I feel dead today lol

6hr 39min game is insane

To reporters after he seemed to agree with the suggestion that the tactic from here on will be intentionally walking Ohtani
