They're straight up clowning the Dodgers right now.
My son, who's now six, had to go to bed at 9, so didn't see this live, but I (re)watched the whole half inning with him this morning after breakfast. Great fun. That bottom of the sixth when blue jays put up 9 runs with 2 home run and a grand slam, that was amazing baseball!!!
Dodgers won 6-5 in the 18 th inning!
Now that was a game!!
GO JAYS GO!! GO JAYS GO!!
That's not how baseball works, though. Maybe it will lead to rule changes for the future, but I doubt it.Indeed, I stayed up until 3 am watching it.
By the end of the game, I think both teams both just wanted to go home due to fatigue.
Given the timings, I actually wondered if MLB would call it. It was just after midnight in LA when the game ended and just after 3 am here in Toronto.
Both teams had used their benches up along with all their relievers. At one point, I think it was Ernie Clement who injured himself but stayed in due to not having anyone to replace him.
The Dodgers even considered putting a position player on the mound and we considered putting todays starter out there because we had no more relievers.
I think if this went past the 18th you would have seen some sort of actions taken by MLB given the situation. It was quickly becoming untenable.

The Jays made changes early and were left with an empty bench at the end. Both bullpens were done, but there are always position players that can pitch if necessary
To reporters after he seemed to agree with the suggestion that the tactic from here on will be intentionally walking OhtaniSchneider having Dominguez pitch to Ohtani during his 2nd homerun instead of intentionally walking him
