Good *expletive* riddance. Fun fact: the BIA threatened to sue me when I (factually) pointed out their longstanding opposition to the Bloor bike lanes between Avenue and Yonge on Twitter.

Briar was also a staunch ringleader against any pedestrianization efforts in Yorkville.

So, yeah, good job making your neighbourhood worse for everyone (the business you represent, included) over the last quarter century!

I was waiting for you to find that and comment. You did not disappoint!

L.L. Bean is all set up and will open on the lower level at Manulife on Friday. Edit: As Northern Light already mentioned in the Manulife thread!

Avant fitness centre have opened in the former Nordstrom Rack space at 1 Bloor East

From their website: "As a private, members-only club, AVANT grants membership through a selective application process to ensure alignment with our values, community standards, and commitment to excellence"

I give it a year. I think they've misjudged the "luxury" of the local area.

I have a feeling that particular 1BE 2nd floor will end up having a lot of turnover over the coming years.

Agreed. Essentially saying "we're probably too good for you" from the outset when other options are available nearby isn't a brilliant strategy.

I wonder if they require prospective members to submit a photo of themselves, bust/waist/hip measurements and attestation of their account balance.

How businesses decide to market like this. Clearly it's to people that want to feel special, but aren't. Truly rich are likely have a boutique studio/personal trainer.

Think Temu and "shop like a billionaire"... No billionaire is buying their crap!

I can imagine it will draw the Insta-influencers though.

The big question that's been on my mind is how all these businesses can survive when most condos have gyms. It's definitely a lifestyle sale, which is how the exclusive members-only side will go, but the competition (with Equinox at Yorkville Village and soon-to-open Sweat & Tonic at 11 Yorkville) will be fierce.

We now have two of the corners set, with lululemon & Smeg on the northwest and Avant/Nike/Ballroom on the southeast. Any word on the apple space and does anyone have any insights into what's happening with the former HBC site that's been sitting empty for years now? There's gotta be something in the works.
