August 7, 2024. Very busy construction site.

They are fully excavating the footprint of the 23s tower, as we've all suspected. I wonder if they'll roll right into that along with or after the hotel addition. What would they do otherwise? Cap the garage and fence it off? Surface parking?

When is the last time we heard about that planned building? It's been ages... wonder what the last render or floorplate even looked like.

We haven't seen any updates since the project was proposed and approved about a decade ago. With the Hampton Inn site included, I'm very suprised Claridge hasn't presented a whole new proposal for the entire site.

I can't see surface parking, because quite frankly it would be a security nightmare in that location. Same with a park. If they aren't building out the other tower, I can only imagine it being a fenced off site for a few years.

Why is it only Claridge that has projects in this city where we don't know exactly what's going on and what the end result will be?

I don't necessarily think there's deep seeded corruption, but Claridge and City Paulicians and staff seem pretty tight. I go back to Icon when Claridge proposed 42 floors while the City told them "why not 45" while rejecting 35 floors across the street. I think campaign contributions have an influence on what a developer is allowed to do.

That said, I'm hoping Claridge's part ownership in the Sens helps the arena project go forward a little easier through City Hall.

It's hard to tell where it is. Is it placed for the Andaz expansion, the Hampton Inn (that wasn't approved, though I guess that's not a problem for Claridge), the tower on George or just the parking garage?
