A fair amount of that is likely related to galvanization related to the federal election outcome, and Nenshi's consistently underwhelming leadership. Most news outlets also quickly stopped discussing the healthcare scandals.
Yeah, so where is Nenshi anyway? It's the job of a party leader to put the party's agenda in the public eye. I see Nenshi's posts on Instagram sometimes, but that's not where most Albertans are getting their news...

Mostly booing from the sidelines. A recurring theme seems to be "UCP proposes new Pedestrian Exploder in Downtown Calgary. Opposition leader Naheed Nenshi has criticized the project, saying it will not make dental care more affordable."

IMO, the NDP provincially are struggling for the same reason they got crushed federally, a fundamental lack of good policy direction. Just saying "nuh uh" to whatever the right wing party has going on.

The counter to that would be starting your counter campaign early isn’t necessarily a good thing. It’s early in the mandate, I think the UCP are actually generally doing a good job of harming themselves most days, so if you are the NDP, let them.

You will have to pivot to what you will do as government but not quite yet,

Yes. Notley, for all her strengths obliterated Kenney and the UCP, but unfortunately it was a year and a half before the election so they had time to replace him and change direction some.

In politics timing isn't everything, but it is fairly important. Now is the time for the opposition to do important perhaps behind the scenes work that will help out in a couple of years time and not just yell loudly about things that can not or will not be changed in the meantime.

I eventually unsubscribed from the NDP emails because it was all "ooooh, the UCP are so bad, they did X, Y, and Z". Yeah, okay, I already know what I hate about the UCP, why don't you tell me what you will do about it or any new policy ideas you're proposing?.... Next email: "hey, lookit this, the UCP are so bad, they did X, Y, and Z". Repeat ad nauseam. Got tired of it pretty damn quickly.

In other words the NDP emails about the UCP are just like the UCP emails about “standing up for Alberta” because the Ottawa Liberals did X, Y, and Z and how they refuse to do what Danielle demands they do so she’ll hold her breath until they do or until she turns blue.

The Alberta Daily News Index Summaries also used to contain unbiased updates from the GoA under Kenney, but since Smith took power they contain a lot of this:

And here's the UCP email format where they ask for money once every 3 minutes:

I just want to know what's happening in government, but the government mostly seems to prefer issuing propaganda. At least Taproot is still good.

I am not a fan of such emails either which are often used by all parties to try stir up the base for for fundraising. They may raise some money, but excess partisanship is also a big turn off for a lot of people.

Sure, but I expected better. Silly naive goof that I am.
