It's pretty exciting to see people finally standing up to the absolute waste of bike lanes that are being pushed by yuppies. A small percentage of people without families have had undue influence and wasted hundreds of millions of dollars on bike lanes that are unused amd have crippled a transportation network for the benefit of maybe a couple dozen bicyclists who would still bicycle without bike lanes or would be using public transit anyway.

I’ll bite, can you share an example of this crippling of our transportation network?
 
From 2 lane traffic down to 1. On a bus route, this has traffic backed up when busses stop or people turn. Traffic is more congested while bike lanes have sparse to no users outside of central Edmonton. Emergency services have increased response times during peak hours accessing certain neighborhoods. Neighborhood parking is also reduced making it more difficult for multi u it infil to have adequate parking, hindering growth potential.

Expand sidewalks into multi use paths, or build bike lanes where there is available space. It shouldn't be coming at the expense of a good transportation network .

As a a person with a family, who has a wife that bikes to work and 2 little ones we regularly bike with to daycare and other trips, your comment is quite funny. The only reason we don’t have a 2nd vehicle is because we can bike for a number of journeys.

Would you prefer we add to the traffic congestion for all our trips instead?

And by hundreds of millions on bike lanes, can you please point that spending out? Because it definitely doesn’t exist in the way you’re framing it. What projects and budget totals are adding up to “hundreds of millions on bike lanes”?

We haven’t built any bike lanes that I’m aware of that have removed vehicle lanes on roads with a high amount of traffic. We’ve removed parking, shifted underused roads to 1ways, narrowed 2-4 lane roads into more appropriately sized 2-4 lane roads.

But can you point out where a major lane removal happened that impacted traffic for a main road?
 
I think the roundabout actually happens in the final year - 2027.
I wish the scope map was higher resolution, because it's really hard to tell. But comparing it to google maps, I *think* it falls under the 2026 scope.

Most of us aren’t expressing “opinions”, we are stating objective facts about cycling. Whether COE data on ridership, budget/cost info, bike infrastructure studies from around the world, etc.

You “not liking bike lanes” is an opinion. You saying “a few dozen people use them” is a lie. You don’t annoy me, but I do wish you’d engage the debates with good faith and reasonable claims. Not blatant lies, misinformation, and 0 evidence.

ah, I see where you got confused.
This road is a neighborhood collector road, it’s not a main road. It’s supposed to provide access to schools and travel within the neighborhood. I think you’ve been treating it as a main road and that’s causing your frustrations.
 
I used to live a few blocks from 132 Ave. It carried very little traffic, but was a pain to cross (especially since what few cars there were tended to drive like it was the Yellowhead) and had terrible sidewalks. Substantial portions of it had houses directly fronting onto it, unlike actual major corridors nearby. It was such a terrible and absolutely ugly design back in the day, and it was surreal to pass by one of the reworked sections and see it actually looking like a nice place for people to exist rather than just a line of blight.

We ended up driving down it from Fort Road to 66 Street because I wanted to see more, and it really was not at all bad to drive, either. Even from a drivers' standpoint, the old stroadscape was just indifferently smeared across the landscape rather than being laid out in any kind of rational fashion.
