Anyone know what this is about? Seems like one of those classic “let’s make it swervy cause” things where there will just be a desire line for the most efficient path…

If I’m guessing it’s because there’s an intersection of pathways. The curves might help to slow traffic down approaching those and draw the eyes to the intersection. The additional reason may be to pull that intersection away from the road a bit,

When it rotates to a different angle a second or two later, you can see the hill. Doesn't look like the easiest to cut through.

Project Update - Spring 2025

The William Hawrelak Park Rehabilitation Project continues on time and budget. Paving of the roadways and shared pathways continues. Rehabilitation work continues across the park.

Installation of structural steel and interior framing in the picnic shelters is complete. Concrete work inside and outside all facilities is complete. Work on the mechanical and electrical systems, interior framing and finishing in all facilities is underway.

Installation of windows in the Main Pavilion is complete, and the skylight replacement and lighting installation continues in all facilities. The refinishing of the interior wood ceilings and structures in all facilities is complete.

The remaining roadways and new shared pathways will be paved in spring and summer, with sections of the pathway already completed. Electrical work continues around the park, including additional pathway lighting for security. Installation of the new playground is underway. The concrete for the lakefront path and seating is complete.

Landscaping work will continue throughout 2025. The grading of Hawrelak Lake and work on the vegetative buffer around the lake are complete. The landscaping will need time to establish before the park can reopen to the public.

I actually prefer the fair grounds over Hawrelak Park, it is very easy to get to and the mud is not a problem, the Expo Centre is also a big plus. Hawrelak Park is hard to get to and is always a muddy mess after the festival.
