Page 20 of that report. Talking about how the project will be revenue positive on day 1. Do we not potentially risk pricing out people immediately on day 1 much like the UP express? A quick ChatGpt search shows that between France, Germany and Spain the only one that was positive was France. I'm currently in the Netherlands and looking at the price difference between France and Netherlands the difference is notible. We dont really have that culture of train use here; would it not make sense to build the customer base first then try to go for pricing? or just accept as a public service it will require subsidies? It seems like a lofy goal for a Day 1

Does UP Express have this problem? It, like VIA, seems well-used every time I take it.

All of these companies that are in the cadence consortium are either based out of montreal or paris.Nothing screams conflict of interest or political motivations more than that
It‘s not just that. If I had to design a consortium push will tempt the Conservatives into cancelling the procurement, I would end up with something like the Liberal freak show Cadence assembled…

Why would UP Express have any problem with conflict of interest and how is it relevant to the discussion here?

Nevermind, just realized you were referring to something completely different!

Well, there were only three bidding teams. Do you have an actual reason to believe there was a conflict?
Air Canada being a direct competitor to rail travel... Only french and montreal based companies... announcement in montreal??

You said there was a conflict in selection of the consortium, but you haven't pointed to any evidence other than the makeup of the bidders. This seems completely baseless. Also, the line will run through Montreal. Did you expect the announcement to be made in Vancouver?

Air Canada, CN, and VIA have always been headquartered in Montreal. I believe a lot of rail expertise for SNC (Atkins-Realis) is coming out of Atkins in the UK, which has a lot of passenger rail experience.

Announcement and Presser for High Speed Rail is out.

From the PMO:

Cadence is your winner.

Commitment is full HSR - up to 300km/pr.

It still doesn't mean it will actually get built. We have been down this road before.

Paris, as in TGV? I mean there may be other conflicts of interest, but a company based where HSR is a thing, and has been for almost a century is not that bad to have.
