What were they thinking with all the hotel sites? Three and now four with the CSEC option feels like way too many. Add in the Truman thing and surely five will never happen. CS needs to use this "no bad ideas" retreat to think of other uses for those sites. I could see the Cowboys one going away and becoming something else. Even Weadickville feels awkward, although it is at the end of 17th... Still I'd like to see something else where Weadickville was and the Big Four building is. Maybe that's where my Silos-like development could go. Along with a Ferris wheel that would give you a mountain and city view (to steal someone else's idea).

Whoever had the idea for a year-round agriculture facility was on to something. A small little grazing area to teach us city-folk about farming and ranching would be very cool.

Let's see them get 1 first. Within a 20 mins walk of BMO Centre, there's the Fairmont, Marriott, Delta, Le Germain, Hyatt, Alt East Village, Hilton Garden Inn, and Hotel Arts. The site being transit accessible, the new Hampton Inn and Courtyard/Dorian are also around 15-20 mins by train.
 
I recall hearing that with the new BMO centre, Calgary is attracting much larger events and is, as a result, in need of about 5 decent size new hotels in the downtown area. Truman's project, which is rumoured to be massive, probably eats up much of that demand on its own if the rumours of its size are true.

Anecdotally, a friend of mine is coming to Calgary in June for a wedding and has had a terrible time finding a hotel. The only rooms available were by the airport, and she eventually found an AirBnB, Part of the reason for the scarcity of rooms is the Global Petroleum Show is happening then, but all the various festivals and expos, one of the biggest Comic Expos in North America now, and of course Stampede all bring in a lot of visitors.

Sometimes simple is best. Turns out all you need to do for good design is a square box with a regular window pattern and material choice.

2025 is supposedly going to be a record year for the number of people visiting Calgary.

One idea that I think would work very well in the winter months is a massive ice skating park with many branching paths, lights displays, food stands, etc. Add in some stampede-themed cultural sites and it could be a year-round destination for locals & tourists alike.

The Saddledome site was previously an amusement park called Funtier World. It had a waterpark, ball room, obstacle course and potato sack slide. Admission was $2, $1 if you clipped a coupon from the Herald Comics section.
 
A ferris wheel attached to a hotel that dips down into an aquarium and a roof top pool bar at the top. Need your help on the food hall.
 
I like the idea of a observation wheel, but is it really needed so much as a permanent feature? Especially when the city already has a taller observation tower not too far away downtown

I think if you were going to put one of these in Calgary, for it to fit into the vernacular, it should be an observation rectangle.
