I'm not sure I believe this. This individual is known to more than one person here, and has killed people, but is still riding with their music too loud?

And you all are worried about their music?

If one is too chicken to speak out, then perhaps we can be spared their 1st world whinging.
By "the person" I meant anyone who does that. But to be fair every single person arrested for that sort of an offence has MULTIPLE warrants or probation conditions they've breached before.

This sort of stuff happens more frequently than it should!

They love letting them loose again to cause more chaos. It seems like whoever makes the laws are in favour of having random victims suffer.

And the provincial jail system, requiring too many having to be bailed.

And the mental health system. Making it difficult to get treatment.

And community housing - leaving more on the street.
And I wonder what’s next? Ford wants Crown Attorneys to be elected in Ontario just like the U.S. District Attorneys are?

One of these things is definitely not like the others. Someone sleeping is scary to you? Hell even someone drinking a beer is a ridiculous thing to be scared of.

Not just sleeping but homeless with all their belongings strung out and smelling like they crapped their pants.

As for the beer, look. The TTC is not the the place to drink booze. If you want a beer after work wait until you get home, don't open it on a subway car full of school kids.

Time and a place but nobody should be getting drunk on a subway car at 5 pm

Yeah, it's not like those kids will see advertising for beer in the street, or see it referenced in the media or by their peers or anything like that...

What I think would help the kids is if they're not exposed to puritanical hand wringing. I watched my first episode of Friends when I was 13 and I survived the experience just fine.

That's very much different from someone being half in the bag with kids around.

A drunk guy is alot more problematic than a poster.

The person doing this has already shown they don't care about shame.
Conjecture.

Conjecture.

You're letting assumptions control your entire worldview of the people around you. Assuming the worst is how we end up in a paranoid world where everyone is out to get you specifically. Tough way to live in a city surrounded by millions of people.

This'll be my last point on this since you seem to not want to discuss items you bring here in good faith. There are social media platforms built specifically for you if you want to get on a soapbox to complain about others.

I recommend the Ignore option - if used sparingly.

For me, It's not about being exposed to the drinking (American stats show that kids in grade 8 in the 80s drank more than those in grade 12 now), it's about that person who is drinking on the subway when it's not allowed and they don't care. The increased perceived risk to women, children and others discourages transit use. Transit needs to be perceived as safe for all.

Also.. I had to cut power at Warden earlier at noon

A mentally Ill woman was on the eastbound tracks at Warden around noon today.

She was talking to herself, smacking herself and her bags and screaming on the platform. She then hopped down to track level and walked around.

After a few moments, she climbed back up, laid down and dangled her legs off the platform edge.

As this was all going on, the control board in the tower showed a train coming in eastbound.

For her safety not knowing what state she was in, I cut the power and called it in from the platform.

As I cut power, she was getting back on the platform but I wasn't about to risk a priority one.

Oddly enough both Transit Control and the attending supervisor were surprised I knew how to operate the power cut and call Transit Control. They thought I worked for the TTC.

Once power was cut, she fled the station but was later identified by Special Constables and myself on St Clair. I'm not certain but I believe she was detained pending the arrival of TPS.

Today was fun.
