So....is there any plan to stop doing this? Or must we tolerate a loss of 10+* passenger spaces per train for the rest of the T1 lifespan, long may it be?
* possibly more, depending on whether the Greenwood yard workers bother taking down the barriers in the non leading cars. They seem to do that now, they didn't for much of the last year

I can see it one sense when controlling the doors at one end, but not both ends at the same time.
It boils down to what the Union has to say protecting their members to the on going COVID mess as not everyone has had any shots nor are up to date on them. What every the latest shot out there that I am to get, I have got it.
Bottom line, time for them to disappear as it not only lose space and seating, but prevents kids from looking out the rail fan window. I will be in that rail fan seat if it is open when I get on the end car, but not on every trip..
Just looking at the budget, it's astonishing how screwed up John Tory left the city and how and approved but unfunded list grew so long to the point that it even after 2 decades the city still wont come anywhere close to fully funding a huge part of it.
But yet there are people living in the city that seem to think that there's still a magical "gravy train".
It goes back a lot further than John Tory, but he pay a big part in the backlog. It goes back to the 1980's recession, the Mike Harris downloading as well an council who were non transit supporters.
Asked an residents to list their top 10 major items they want to see where the city is to put their taxes to, it will be a messy. Ask those same residents what they want to see cut to maintain an 3 percent tax increase yearly, it will be a blood bath of things falling apart to disappearing. Transit will not be on any of those list.
Even asking the residents of Ontario those same questions, transit will not make the list and more so for areas that don't have transit at all which is understandable.
Its the Peter to pay Paul as to what sees money and how much to the point what should see more money will see less
