Haha I was trying to use the same logic, but there is definitely some chipped paint and scuffs on the larger signs. Maybe just from the installation.

From videos and images released by Metrolinx and the press, it seems like Line 5 follows a different wayfinding standard than Line 6, with Line 6 seemingly using the Metrolinx design standard. Does anyone know the reason for this?

When the Eglinton Line and Pickering GO were contracted they hadn't completed the wayfinding standard so they are based on early drafts. Line 3, 6, and 10 will be the first lines fully implemented with the new standard plus GO station rebuilds, Caledonia, and the SmartTrack stations.

What are we seeing on the pictures from Line 6 that they don't have on Line 5? Both sets of photos are pointing to different types of signage, except for the sign pointing to the "Eglinton"/ "Finch West" line. The only difference I can see is that the symbol for 5 vs 6 is different.

Seems odd. Given that line 6 is going to ostensibly part of the TTC system, Metrolinx should have used TTC wayfinding just for consistency.
Is that the same case for the Hurontario LRT? Are they using MiWay or Metrolinx wayfinding there

I believe Metrolinx would ultimately prefer that the TTC adopt their wayfinding standard. And of course, relevant XKCD is relevant here: https://xkcd.com/927/

Line 5 stations/stops will need to be retrofitted with new signage when the Renforth extension opens - this better follow the current Metrolinx standard!!

More likely it will meet one of the three standards that Metrolinx will issue before it opens!

I found myself standing under these signs today, so I took a close look. The larger signs are absolutely the new ones - you can see from the mounting hardware, that it's all brand new (left), while the old sign hardware looks ancient (right). But it looks to me like they signs themselves may be used. They are quite scratched up for new.

It was looking at renderings of the Line 2 extension, and noticed they use Metrolinx wayfinding since it's a Metrolinx project. Does that mean on a single line you'd have two different wayfinding standards? Not the end of the world, but a bit jarring.
I realize there's a wayfinding harmonization project going on, but does that mean Metrolinx wayfinding eventually replaces all other standards?
