Fortunately, whether or not an option costs less than another isn't the province's sole metric in determining which of the two "makes more sense". Aside from the cost, I don't see any way you can argue for a Stouffville extension to STC making more sense than the Line 2 extension, at least certainly not from the perspective of those who would actively utilize said extensions.
It’s called a branch service. Some trains would go to STC. Some trains not.

Can't wait for a certain somebody to criticize me for sharing my own experiences but I spoke to several people nearly 10 years ago who have lived in Scarborough their whole lives and they felt Scarborough had been cheated and wanted a subway even if it didn't serve as many people
Coffey1, Onecity, I’m not sure who you’re referring to. But Scarborough threw a fit and was rewarded with a danforth extension, soon a Sheppard East and they will benefit immensely from Ontario line North. They went from being extremely disconnected to very well connected. A huge shift.

Sheppard East LRT, Eglinton East LRT, RT to LRT conversion would have connected them as well. But it wasn’t the Cadillac of services that Scarborough wanted for being disrespected for so long.

In Mississauga we can look forward to taking the LRT to transfer to a part time GO line at Cooksville, a BRT at Dundas and or a well serviced line at port credit. Lucky us.

I don't follow. There was always going to be a transfer from the BD line to something else; it is physically impossible to go both east on Eglinton and north towards STC.

What, a private, multi-billion dollar business doing anything that might hurt their business for the betterment of society? Dream on.

If we offer them billions and billions of dollars and build their bypass for them, then we can have all the 2 way all day service on the Milton line that we want.
I mean that we spent all that money on the subway because of the transfer from STC > Subway at Kennedy, and the Eglinton East LRT won't even connect with the crosstown.

Don’t worry. Eglinton East lrt is not a thing. They need the money for Sheppard extension. And at this rate I wouldn’t be surprised if Scarborough demanded the Ontario line North to make a sudden 90 turn at ellesmere to make a 3rd direct connection to STC. All subways lead to Rome… I mean STC.

I am glad someone other than myself remember John Tory pushing this rhetoric of a terrible transfer from BD to SRT. Yet the transfer from BD to EgEast will be even worse 🫣

lol lol listen that's my beef, I don't even remember this vote for subways subways subways. My beef is that everything points to STC & McCown and anything east of that is like the boonies.
Granted Kennedy was the only east Scarborough subway station.
I would've been cool with lrt to begin with, but Sheppard still needed to be extended for many of reasons

What's wrong with transfers, they're inevitable at some point, and I think the general public knows that

I believe she has a crappy map somewhere. Her she del duca did everything they could to not get elected. They never got themselves in front of a camera and when they did they campaign was vote for me I’m not Doug.

A Sheppard East LRT and Eglinton East LRT would not have connected us that well. The disconnect that you and I have is that you consider an LRT to be a vast improvement from a bus. I do not, especially the way the Sheppard East LRT was planned. There were public meetings held for the Sheppard Extension, and the residents, including myself, resoundingly agreed that we did not want and LRT, and we would rather have the status quo that spend billions on an LRT that we did not feel was a significant improvement compared to a bus. Like I've said on other forums, if it stopped less frequently and and had signal priority, then sure, but that's not how it was planned at all, so we just saw it as a high investment low return project.

Everyone says they want a lrt like the c train. That’s in its own corridor with no lights to stop at. We have that too. It’s called a go train. Scarborough has always had it and I used to pick up my dad from Agincourt GO every day. My biggest beef being on the bus (57 midland or 39 finch) was during rush hour I didn’t have my own lane and being stuck in traffic stuffed like sardines. I’m not even upset about the danforth extension to STC. I get that. A lot of future development like it or not will be built around malls because there are no NIMBYs and because the mall needs people to shop there. I can understand that one. But as soon as Scarborough got a commitment they went back to complaining that Sheppard wasn’t done. My problem is that with limited funds Scarborough is monopolizing the funds. Even if you say they were neglected between the new go stops, a midtown corridor, a sheppard subway, an Ontario line (makes the transfer to downtown a lot easier) a danforth extension the east has been more than made up for. And I’m speaking as someone who used to live at midland and finch.

Anyways we’re supposed to be talking about the west in here. And once again MCC is basically as close to union as STC. What’s good for the goose is good for the gander.
