As a pedestrian first this is incredible work and very encouraging to see.
I support this 100%. Right turn on red (and nigh-universal left turns) are aberrations only seen in North America, and honestly, they make little to no sense.
Challenge is that a lot of variance is what causes confusion. Hence the Valley line troubles and my weekly experience as a biker. Even though all those intersections have signs about no turning.Uhhh no thanks. Restrict right turns on red at trouble intersections, but a blanket ban on right on red at every intersection is a bad idea.
I'm hoping the DT core and neighbourhoods see this change soon.I wonder if we’ll see a move toward 30km/hr speed limits in neighbourhoods at some point.
Are you telling me you don’t love one of the most needlessly confusing intersections in the city featuring the quintuple signal?I've lived in many places in my life and one thing I found to be true across the board - cities that had dedicated turning lights flowed much, much better. We certainly have numerous intersections that bafflingly don't have them and then some bizarre random places that do, like, say, the intersection on 125 St/102 Ave.
