Found out this is targeted to open in early 2026 from a fellow weight room regular. We both agreed it's critical to contact the councilor ASAP regarding the major concern that the new facility won't even have a weight room that the locals rely on. Such an outrageous oversight. @Northern Light , is it too late to induce a change now??

The building envelope is not changing now, zero chance.

The only real possible change is how the 'open fitness area' is programmed.

I can't seem to find a schematic diagram anywhere which would let me see what's feasible. We don't seem to have one in thread or in the renders that I can see.

Maybe @Paclo is hiding one somewhere.

At any rate, that's your best pitch. That weights/cardio need to be included within the open fitness area.

I'd wager there won't be room for Class A or B facility (range/type of equipment, but you might get type C out of it. (the basics) but without out seeing how many ft2 we're talking about and what the programming mandate includes, I can't say for sure.

Sounds like the space will have to allow for aerobics/dance type programming unless that's put in the gym, which would be constraining.

A basic set of 4 good quality machines, bench, legs, shoulder, etc, free weights, a few cardio machines will probably run about 250k installed. Its budgetarily do-able, just a question of space.

No real updates of the new build. Some cladding additions have been made in the last week or so.

I did want to share these pics of the old community centre though. From last week as the snow was melting. It's such a unique building in Toronto.

Taken with the 200mp mode on my S25Ultra so had to majorly decrease the number of pixels to fit within the upload limit, finally got around to it today.

That's pretty enough to rival one of Englands highest rated tourist attractions; the Bude Tunnel.

250 K?? They just have to drag all the machines and weights at the current facility across the parking lot...
