From a couple nights ago: Someone left the pool lights on đź‘€

So I chatted with an official on-site today and while the buildings and park are entering the final stretches the opening will be delayed as they have found some additional Edwardian industrial surprises below ground that must be dealt with immediately. And the Timmie’s is now open and buzzing! Taken 30 July.

I wonder if that delays the opening beyond next summer. In early July I asked the city's team if the scheduled opening of the park for "Summer 2026" was still on track, this was the response:

The status and update info disclosed on the project webpage is the currently accurate reflection of the progress of construction.

The individual features of the new park will be opened to the public together once all elements of the Construction Contract are completed and City of Toronto formally accepts handover of the tested, inspected and commissioned facilities.

Thanks and regards,

I sent an email to the project manager asking for confirmation as to the relocation of the weight training machines in the current building to the new one, and he mentioned that only the free weights and cardio machines are intended to be brought over

The current weight room has a full range of equipment that other community centres sorely lack. I guess screw all the locals who relied on them to maintain physical health.

Good thing I joined a brand new gym down the street :(

I work for the city in the community youth development unit, I'll bring it up to someone that the community is very concerned about the weight room & lack of equipment being brought over to the new community centre
But if you tell your local MP & your local MP is aware, they will do something & the city will definitely listen
But I will do my part

On other issues I've emailed the local councillor Alejandra Bravo and her staff have been good to respond to questions or concerns. Send her an email if you haven't already because she's very involved with the community. councillor_bravo@toronto.ca

I saw recently her local office on Bloor was having some repairs so they were using the rink room at the community centre as a pop up office for constituent drop-ins on Fridays 12-5pm

Out of curiousity, is it the Dupont Studio gym?
