Retail spaces are coming....and that big park needs to get started and I think then it might feel more lively. Though those are still years away unfortunately and the current market doesn't help things.
Oh I agree. I actually think VMC has a lot of potential and could be quite successful when closer to build out. It's just got so far to go still. Every new completion is another step there.

I could have posted this picture in a few threads but this one probably makes the most sense.

Vaughan just posted their VMC secondary plan: https://www.vaughan.ca/sites/defaul...ison=1747162857431&file-verison=1748567572901
and I found this interesting

"With no prescribed maximum limits on height and density, the development potential of the VMC
is significant. Greater development potential lengthens the timeline to arrive at full buildout and
increases the requirements of the hard and soft infrastructure necessary to support growth.
Projected growth in the VMC to 2051 is 101,000 people and jobs, with 222,400 people and jobs
projected at full build out, the latter anticipated to occur far beyond the planning horizon of this Plan.
These figures exceed minimum density targets by a large margin."

For context, Downtown Toronto is currently at 643,350 jobs (2024 CoT figure) and 275,000 people (2021 census figure) and is considered 1,660 hectares.
So we can picture the fully built out VMC (235 hectares) about 4x less than downtown toronto currently but in people and jobs but also in a space 7x more dense!
Some please check my math and maybe any key details I'm overlooking but it feels like this vision could be very "cyberpunkish" and an interesting place to live in 30-40 years from now.

I feel like you can even see the vision coming together already below.

If by "interesting", you mean extremely congested, sure.

I drove through here today outside rush hour, and it was quite packed.

It's a zoo during peak and I can't imagine what it will be like with another 90,000 people.

This area sucks big time.

If Vaughan ever builds the Langstaff overpass above the CN yard it should pull a lot of trucks off of Hwy 7 and make it a bit easier to get around the area. Still never going to be fun though..
