They're up to the 4th floor on the south side of the building, the north side closest to University Ave now has first floor forms in place.

Taken from the Laurel Trail. This view encompasses most of the building. The section of building from the edge of the photo to University is hidden from the trail with a bunch of coniferous trees, the forms closest to University next to the bridge are in place with the rest of the section up to the first floor, there a few walls formed on the second floor however that's closer to the edge of my photo.

I would love if they could raise it or tunnel it. I feel like University Ave has an east-west LRT route in its future

During the ROPA 6 process the Region of Waterloo considered a future LRT route along University running from the Boardwalk to Waterloo Park Station, they considered one along Victoria, Ottawa, and a handful of others. Ultimately the Region ended on the Ottawa St corridor as a "Regional Intensification Corridor", there's a bunch of stuff mentioned about it with regards to minimum densities and built form but based on current planning direction Ottawa St is going to be the next road for an LRT. The following section is where this is mentioned in ROPA 6, there's more sections related to it but this is the official direction. The Region of Waterloo doesn't have planning authority anymore with Bill 23 but the cities are actively incorporating ROPA 6 into their own OPs.

2.D.3.5
As part of the next update to the Region’s Transportation Master Plan, the Region, in collaboration with the area municipalities, will examine the potential for establishing a new ION rapid transit route along the east-west Regional Intensification Corridor (Ottawa St) shown on Map 2 that would:
(i) provide a direct link from the Region’s transit system to the Region of Waterloo International Airport; and
(ii) serve as a key transit corridor connecting the west side of the City of Kitchener to the East Side Lands Employment Area in the Township of Woolwich, and City of Cambridge via the Fountain Street corridor.

The residence building is onto the second floor immediately next to the bridge, then ranges from the third to the fifth along the rest of the building with various activities occuring (columns/floors). The fly forms on the southern most side of the site were lifted after this picture was taken onto the 5th floor so next week the 6th floor will likely be poured.

The new residence as of today (May 15 2025)

Taken June 12th, they've seemingly been focusing their attention on the University side of the site for the last few weeks. Just barely visible in this photo is steel along the first floor that the cladding will eventually mount to which was installed in the last week or so. They've also started interior concrete block walls in the last week.
