Sure, I'll complain about it. Has it made monumental strides over the 10 years? Yeah, but it's still lipstick on a pig. Just because 42,000 show up to a playoff game, lets not pretend this ball park is one of the gems in MLB.
And how many of the amazing open-air stadiums in the US have very low attendance because their teams aren't doing well? Look at Baltomare, their ballpark is praised for being one of the best, yet their attendance is a joke and even on the worst days of this season, we had more people in the Rogers Centre than they did. The reason fans come to a baseball game isn't for the stadium and a view of the city; it's for the game, and if the team is doing well, then people will come.

What does attendance have to do with the aesthetics of a baseball stadium?
You’d rather spend billions on a new stadium in a less ideal location than spending more money on winning players. Clearly winning is what brings people to a ballpark not the view of the city.

Let’s be honest. This is urban Toronto. It’s not a sports thread. So your take is perfectly reasonable.

I'm not sure why you're confusing baseball stadium aesthetics with people showing up to games because a team is winning.

You’re acting as if you can have the nicest stadium in the league and you can put a crap product on the field and you will have people showing up for the view. There’s cheaper places to get a view than buying any sporting tickets. I mean you can eat at the CN tower for less money than it costs to go to a game. And guess what. The CN tower has the better view. People go to watch sports for sports. Everything else is secondary. If the product is terrible you could replace the cheerleaders with brass rail dancers throwing out free t shirts and still no ones showing up.

Stadium is fine now. it's not great, but when the lid is open it's a pretty good day. i think it's rated the 21st best stadium now? they rank it higher than Atlanta which is wild as that one is brand new. The Dome is the Dome and it's no longer a miserable experience. It might be lacking on a Monday game in late april when it's closed and nobody is there but a lot of teams face those attendance woes early in the season midweek. I prefer it to Fenway. Fenway is an amazing experience but I think it's simply due to the history of it as the stadium itself is meh. I think moving the Dome to a new location on the waterfront would be a terrible idea. I like the idea of the city views but they'll need to develop a whole retail experience outside of it with multiple restaurants. I imagine there would just be a couple outside it and the rest condos. Where it is now on tourism row provides a TON of pregame experiences (not quite like wrigleyville, but close)

I was at yankee stadium the year before it was torn down. That place was a dump. But ohhhhh look at the character. If the jays won more often people would have positive memories of the stadium. But with all the losing all you notice is the concrete. That said a state of the art waterfront stadium with a view of the city won’t bring people in if the product is trash.

uhhhh...no. Mburrrr asked the question if anyone is complaining about the stadium these days. It seems to me with the timing of this question, it's in reference to how the team is doing. Because the team is winning and in a playoff run, that doesn't change the fact it's not a great stadium. I have no idea why people get so defensive about this stadium. It's not one of the true baseball gems and never will be.

They have done a good job making it not the cringe worthy place it used to be, but at the end of the day it's still a concrete bunker that's way to high with no charm to it.

I was never at old Yankee stadium, but have been to the new one and it's not great either.

I have been to Fenway, Wrigley and Petco, and I can tell you from my point view those places were amazing.

The point is if there’s a bottom line which is what Roger’s will spend it is much better to put the money to the product on the field than to a new stadium. Id much rather compete with an extra 150 million in funding for players over ten years than 1.5 billion on a new stadium and we can’t afford a competitive product.

I don't know what his point was, and the debate about how Rogers spends there money is a different topic. The topic at hand was really what we think about the stadium. The answer is, it's much better then it used to be, but still ranks pretty low on most people's listings.

Here's a few listings:

Alright the stadium is trash. I’m happy the teams good. I’m not going to worry about the trash stadium. And unless you’re going to pay for it I’m not exactly sure why it’s bothering you. Do what the majority do. Watch on tv or move to a “world class city.”

Btw this is the only MLB park in Canada and that alone should bump it up into the top 10.
