Never lose hope, people in the M3 Forum thought they had cheaped out on the forward slanted crown at the top, construction had stayed stagnant for months but now they are actually adding it
That rendering was for the south block, something that had been brewing under wraps for months and months before we saw it. When they created it, they grabbed the north block plans from the time, and then didn't update the north block stuff when it changed. There was a more recent (or least claimed) render several pages back that showed it uncut...
....oh, there I go again. >.<
It's not a hope thing, sorry to say. Those people thought that, only because there had been no construction progress for quite a while: this is a different situation.Never lose hope, people in the M3 Forum thought they had cheaped out on the forward slanted crown at the top, construction had stayed stagnant for months but now they are actually adding it
Sorry that had me genuinely rollingWe're getting a glass parapet tiara from Spirit Halloween
I applaud optimism, but at the same time, I'm not going to hand people a pair of rose coloured glasses to take in the view. I'm just trying to help everyone understand how things work.Sorry that had me genuinely rolling
Anyhow, I do agree that renders are simply illustrative and can be wrong, but personally
I can’t fathom why they’d have some ugly box and the top of canadas tallest skyscraper and go thru the trouble of having it hidden on a few of the renderings they commissioned, at that point it’s false advertising
Also, i was a firm believer that M3 at M city was gonna have some ugly design at the top instead of the crown but i was totally wrong about it, so i think we ought to wait and see. Granted im hoping im not wrong on this one (as are most posters)
Id also be stupid not to mention that you’re likely correct but I (as most posters here) am gonna hold out hope that this developer isn’t stupid enough to almost ruin our country’s tallest skyscraper![]()
(seriously): I don't understand why they are not simply building the glass a few meters higher. Surely that would cost less than 0.1% of the total cost of this project but it would make a huge difference. Why is it worth it for them to ruin the design of the tallest and one of the most iconic buildings in the country for just to reduce the cost by 0.1%? It doesn't make sense to me.Doesn't anyone see the silver lining here? Surely, pinnacle will plow all those savings (gathering interest as we speak) into topping off the remaining towers with dazzling crowns.
I agree that Pinnacle are not doing themselves a favour by applying The Cheapening™ here, but apparently the cost of the full screen up top is of more concern to them than our consternation and withering looks.

Don't get mad at me, I was only posting what others had posted about this previously! >.<That rendering was for the south block, something that had been brewing under wraps for months and months before we saw it. Please remember that submissions to the City are only required to show faithfully what is proposed on the subject site, and anything else, from across the street that may show up in the background, is there for illustrative pruposes only.
The only image important for this site is the last submission to the City for SkyTower, which was the one that contained this stunning beauty:

That's what we're getting. The photos show that's what's being built. Here's one of @Johnny Au's recent ones as a reminder:

@OpenClosed: Renderings are "for illustrative purposes only" and are not considered accurate representations of the design or stats provided in the submissions package.
I would love, from a architectural purist's position, to have to eat my words, I would love to have that lump hidden from skyline views, but the submissions to the City show that The Cheapening™ has been applied to the top of the building here. We're getting a glass parapet tiara from Spirit Halloween, which is not the crown that was intended by Hariri Pontarini.

But my coping mechanism is gin which means I’ll be going through a lot of it. I’m going to blame Pinnacle once I’m hospitalized. It's been stated several times that that is an old, out-of-date, obsolete, non-applicable drawing. What was once, is no more. It's not happening. What would have been a crowning achievement will now be a crowning acheapment. Onlookers are urged to distract themselves with their favourite coping mechanism.
