Gotcha. So it's a support platform that will be removed? It's the platform for building the actual bridge deck, which needs to be supported until the arch is constructed.
The west abutment and the trestle bridge are 2 different things.Yup! Removed summer 2026 as per @kotsky's image, but also, it appears as if this temporary platform was supposed to start construction in Aug of 2024, but looks like it didn't start until just recently, so who knows.
Either way, it will be apparent when the actual bridge superstructure starts to come together. Interestingly, again per the graphic, it will be done in two halves and slid into place. That will be interesting to watch. The graphic doesn't indicate how and when the arch will be installed. Single piece by crane? separate components that are joined together onsite?
I'm glad we'll get step-by-step photo updates here as it happens!
Where's the excavation in Ordinance Park? Haven't been down that way since winter. Is access to the park, bridges, bike paths, etc restricted?Ordinance Park emergency exit excavation update:

Nothing is restricted. The far East area of the park that has been fenced off for years is the site they're working at.Where's the excavation in Ordinance Park? Haven't been down that way since winter. Is access to the park, bridges, bike paths, etc restricted?
Ah, that makes sense. I've been wondering what the plan was for that site. It had basically become an unsanctioned dog park, which folks clearly use in that area. Glad to hear there's a longer term plan, the views of the city from that park are phenomenal.Nothing is restricted. The red circle is the construction site. The yellow circle is the excavated pit.
