To my understanding, they wanted to pay off all the work that was agreed to before Mizrahi requested a height increase at the time, leaving the last floors "optional". So they are likely sticking with that for feasibility reasons. As well as, increased unit count on the upper floors for the same...

...this tower ain't going to get higher folks. We should accept that and move on. >.<

I get all that, I'm simply saying, for a company to be so proud and pump up the fact it hit the 300m mark, you would think they would have done everything possible to get to the highest height they were allowed. Especially since is Tridel were talking about.

...they made it more feasible by adding more units instead of more floors. To which I suspect is much more cost effective in a dodgy market where they where having difficulty selling units to make this all viable. To be fair, I think it was the receiver who came up with proposed variance on the units and Tridel adopted it in the end. But keep in mind, they are all in this to make money...and adding more floors would fly in the face of this in the current economic instability.

Photos taken today, Friday (Aug. 8). More movement at the top since my post last Friday... all of the blue corner scaffolds have moved up a level, and as can be seen in hawc's photos above, they are working on pouring the corners of the 83rd floor. Only two more floors to go until the main concrete portion is done, and, presumably, the crown of the tower is built. Meanwhile, less movement further down the tower, where the Rail Climbing Systems (RCSs) installing the building's skin remain where they have been for the past two weeks, on levels 64 and 65, though, again, the mini-RCS on the south face is up another level, now at 63, almost caught up to the others.

Starting with the view from Yonge at Dundas, moving up to around Charles and Yonge, with details of the RCSs and installed glass on the south face, and a closer look at one of the corners of the 1st mechanical level. Then, a bit of a surreal shot of the two external elevators going down, alongside the crane, taken from the alleyway off Balmuto. The view from Bloor, by Holt Renfrew, then some hazy shots from Cumberland east of Bay, with a closer view of the corner scaffolds now closer to the top since last week. Some light and reflections off of 1 & 2 Bloor W, then the "classic" view from the NE corner of Bloor and Yonge, with a second one taken from the base of the NE corner of the tower. Finally, from Wellesley and Church, then from College and Queen's Park Cr., ending with a few from Harbord near Huron; first as seen over over Robart's, then the tower is buzzed in the final two shots!
