Photos taken today, Friday (June 6). A very hazy day as we got the winds from the prairie fires carrying all that smoke. The tower was barely visible through the haze at Dundas and Bloor - by the time I hit Manning, it was still pretty thick (see photo below). A big milestone for the construction of One Bloor West this week, as mentioned above a few days ago, with the first blue scaffolding and forms to have been removed with the completion of two of the mega columns. They were probably actually completed a few weeks ago, but as the blue scaffolds doing the corners have all moved up a level, soon to reach the top of the 4th mechanical level and the pouring of those corners, we will soon see the last set of corner hangers installed. Thus far, just the SE corner mega columns have had the scaffolds removed, but that also seems to be the corner section soonest to be complete - a crew is visible there in one of my photos today. I took a look through my files to check, and the first blue scaffolding and slip forms started to be installed the week ending March 19, 2021.
Is it me, but are those newly exposed columns slightly tapering? I don't mean the back of the columns which obviously are tapering, I mean the front-facing sides. They seem to slightly angle off above the 4th mechanical level. Am I seeing things? (Look at the shot from Church Street from almost directly east and see the slight taper above the crane attachment point, which is right above the 4th mechanical level.) Also, I can see the attachment points for the corner hangers, but what are the out-facing things? Left-over attachments for the scaffolding?
Besides the scaffold stuff, there was also movement with the Rail Climbings Systems (RCSs) installing the skin. The east RCS is now up to level 62, the north up to 61, the west remains at 60. And the mini RCS on the south side has finally cleared the 3rd mechanical level, to 59.
Starting with the view up Yonge Street from Dundas, to Charles east of Yonge with a bird, a closer look at the top with the removed mega column scaffolding, then the same but from Church and Wellesley. A view of the east RCS and the progression of the skin installation also from Church and Wellesley, then a closer view of the exposed mega column on the south face from somewhere up Church Street. A couple crane shots - how often do we see exterior cranes this high? And SkyTower will go even higher! Then the view from Cumberland east of Bay, with a closer look at the north and west RCSs, then a look straight up the east face from Bloor a bit east of Yonge. The "classic" view from the NE corner of Yonge and Bloor, then, through the haze, the view from Queen's Park Cres and College, from Harbord west of St George, and finally from Bloor and Manning.
From October, 2020, as above-ground construction started in earnest at The One (1 Bloor W.) in Toronto. More or less a weekly photo usually taken on a Friday, with some gaps during early-on construction hiatuses. The initial photographs are from 2015, during demolition at the site, 2018, during...

Photos of One Bloor West (The One) construction progress, including a "before" shot from 2011 and several from 2015 after the demolition of Stollery's. Notable for becoming Canada's first supertall building, i.e., over 300 metres (985 feet) tall. (The CN Tower does not fall under the definition...
