To say it’s awful is as much a hyperbole as saying it’s going to win the Pritzker Prize. I hope you don’t live in Toronto, because if you think this is awful, I don’t know how you cope with the spandrel fest that literally is all over the city.
I concur, I don't think anyone really has claimed this is a masterpiece. It's a tower that a lot of love and thought in it's materials and presentation, that is clearly evident. It's also very tall and poised to break a record in being so. And it uses a fairly unconventional structure to hold itself up...so yeah, it's standoffish as well. But the Taj Mahal it is not. Nor does it really come close to our own newly minted Aqualuna at Bayside for that fact, IMO.

Outside of this, what we think of this tower is mostly subjective here. That is, some folks will never appreciate it for whatever reasons. And that's fine. However, the majority of readers likely favour this tower over something of the likes of 365 Church or that Social at Church + Dundas . And that's something fairly undeniable.

Taste is subjective, but if someone claims this tower is uglier than Social and 365 Church, I’d suggest they go for a cornea transplant …

This is the thing that should be important in this type of conversation: Because I dislike something doesn't mean it's awful. For example, I loath pickles and Air Supply, does not mean they are bad or terrible...it's just I am not into them.

....so peeps need to distinguish this when they state this tower to be "pretty ugly"...when they feel it's so in their eyes and opinions. Which again, is fine...and they have the right to that. Their position starts to become spurious and dodgy when their reasons don't add up to what is generally understood about it. So that becomes haters gonna hate thing...where there's no real value or substance in their protest and is likely uninformed at best, IMO.

Unpopular opinion , but I wish Mizrahi had gone with RAMSA (their original plan) instead of Foster. Itd have been a much simpler, faster build.

Where is this RAMSA talk coming from? You seem to be the only person mentioning the fact he initially wanted to go with them instead of Foster.

I think it's always been Foster...at least according to the official FP stories as far back as I can determine.
