He's a pretty dumb nepo-baby but I can't help but feel a little sympathy for him ending up on AM radio after all these years. There's not really a "mainstream" to support careers like his anymore.

Really? He has an LLB like his dad but, beyond that, I see no parallels.

So the last bit is key.....it doesn't give the narrow specifics, but its clear there was significant tension between Travis and CBC:

Sounds like this is more about political views than anything else. Which begs the question which views held by Travis were not to CBC's liking?

What a bizarre vanity play for Rogers, which carries a lot of debt as it is..........

I get Bell wanting to exit and curtail its debt............

Rogers should be thinking along the same lines.

Telcos should not own sports teams, or media properties. They should be utilities, damn near debt-free, and with a regulated rate of return on anything where they have a monopoly or there is an oligopoly.

Roger's purchase of MLSE is questionable, based on ego and not common sense

Rogers May Sell Part of MLSE to Close Out Controlling Stake
Rogers Communications expects to sell equity in Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment ...
The equity would be used to help fund an agreed-upon deal to purchase a controlling stake of MLSE.
But who would be willing and able to buy into MLSE?
There's just not a lot of Toronto or Canadian possibilities who have been eagerly waiting for the chance to spend billions of dollars to buy the existing Toronto pro sports franchises. And never mind the NFL, which some commenters here seem to strangely imagine happening for any and every occurrence that has absolutely no relevance.

Private equity funds.

Both the NHL and NBA quietly changed the ownership rules a few years ago to allow partial ownership by LPs (Limited Partnerships).
You can sell off even small percentage stakes to multiple different funds like 4% here and 6% there.

The Minnesota Wild and the Tampa Bay Lightning have already done it.

They don't even have to be Canadian. Any PE fund domiciled anywhere in the world can buy in, even sovereign wealth funds like Saudi Arabia's could take a stake in the business.

CityTv Moving to Bloor street studio??

Oh I am guessing they are going right into the Rogers building. They already have studios there for Sportsnet (this is where Hockey Night in Canada is done now), so it is a consolidation of their resources.

That leaves a question of what will become of that bizarro Olympic building at Dundas and Victoria.
Might be a good time to simply demolish it.

Perhaps we can relocate MZTV there?

They just confirmed on air that they are moving on Monday with "New Hosts?" and the existing couch in studio is up for auction to support Jays Care
