You'd have to go back and confirm, but I believe it's hybrid in the sense it is both remove and rebuild: remove east of the DVP (completed a few years back) and rebuild west of the DVP with a new alignment. As opposed to remove the Gardiner to Jarvis (or further west), or rebuild to the previous on ramp (west of Carlaw)

I think it's called a hybrid as it is the compromise between leaving it as is or removing it altogether. Both are fraught with issues that this city can ill-afford to deal with.

I kind of like Hybrid 2 - it maximizes the park on the North side by keeping the highway along lakeshore for a longer period.
