There is not much point in this road until the whole of the Don River bridge area on Lake Shore opens (November?). They appear to have done all the underground things, added traffic lights and street lighting and it looks as though most of the concrete is poured and only asphalt to come. Concrete can be poured until frost is likely and asphalt for longer. They have lots of time to get it done

I think it might end being ahead of schedule at this rate. Cement trucks, other machinery and soil. Lots of activity today.

Lots of activity on Lakeshore Blvd East as well. It looks like thwy are setting up to pave very soon.

They also blocked the path I walked down to take pics before. "Construction Workers Only". 😅

Need a safety vest and a white helmet? LOL

..... you can buy them both at Mark's ~$25 for the vest, ~$20 for the helmet.

Just sayin.

Why yes, it is. I actually took a video of it last October. They were taking it down during one of my walks, so I stopped to film it. Right place at the right time, I guess.

Anyone know why they stopped removing it last year and if they really will be back to take the rest of it away? It would seem to be in the way of water if they want the main channel of the river to go into the new channel.

Sept 1
In all the years I been shooting the area for the Lake Shore at the Don River and DVP ramp, I have never seen a police officer on duty for that intersection to deal with illegal left turns and drivers line cutting in until today. As I walked toward the intersection in the centre close off area, I noticed a car sitting there and thought someone broke down, someone monitoring traffic or what. As I got close to the area, I noticed it was a police officer directing traffic to turn right onto the DVP ramp and stopping drivers who want to lane jump at the lights to the point they were forced to use the DVP. Good for those line jumpers to have to take a long trip to turn around and to get to where they wanted to go in the first place.

Talking to the officer for a well, he said someone requested to have someone one on duty to deal with right lane to cut in at the bridge causing a few accidents or near misses. He said the big issue was drivers not understanding EllisDon Sign for making a right turn on the red with a green arrow logo in place of the no turn on a red. The officer said it was a dumb sign as it is law to make a right turn on a red after you stop which I agree with. He talked about removing the sign since it seem to confused a lot of driver to the point he finally did removed that sign. Little later,

I had a looked at the new westbound bridge that I have being trying to shoot when the steel was started to be place for it. Every time I was planning on shooting it, the weather was against me or something came up to kill my visit.

From my point of view, the westbound will open this fall and no later than the end of the year as it 80-90% done. The barrier wall between the road and the cycling lane is formed and could be pour this week. There is a small section of sidewalk to be pour at the east end and then the handrail needs to be installed. The road is poured with the centre medium in place on the bridge. New road curb and new road need to be built for the 3 bent area where the old Gardiner lanes used to east that still exist today. Curbs at all 4 corners still need to be form and concrete pour for them.

It looks like the Don Roadway is all most completed with work taking place for the pathway from the Lake Shore to Commissioner and that should be finish this month,

As for the centre of the road, the curb is in place for the westbound 3rd lane but nothing for the eastbound. At the rate they being doing the Lake Shore work, fall is the earliest I can see the work been done along with planting.

The north pathway for cycles and pedestrian far from completion. I don't see this section as well the new connection to the old pathway on the westside of the Don complete until 2026 and could be wrong

Photos to follow but a couple unedited shots.

Yes, I assume they intend to take bit more off the top of it while the Lake is so low. "Low Draft" hardly describes it!!
I asked WT about this and it’s a riffle. They left it there to stop sediment getting into new Don River but left an opening for fish and small canoes. It will be removed when Ports Toronto finish dredging the Keating Channel and WT finish the new “debris area” north of the new Lake Shore bridge.

Some areas of the Don River, namely around the Dundas Street bridge, you can easily walk across if it hasn't rained in a few days to a week. I watched a guy wade into it just below the Dundas Bridge last summer (almost to the center) and the water was only around knee level. This is also just south of the area of the Don River that always floods and overflows onto the Don Valley Parkway.

I'm curious why they have not deepened this stretch of the river (or maybe it won't help anything even if they did).

Well, since the gates are wide open and there isn't any signage anywhere saying I can't (and not a construction worker in sight), I don't mind if I do.

I haven't been able to walk up here in awhile.

North Side of Lakeshore Blvd East, right by the new bridge construction.

And they definitely have an officer here, seemingly, all the time...

I said before, Until Sept 1st, I have never seen a police officer on duty for the DVP and Lake Shore intersection when it became one bridge only to cross. What is that......3 years or so???

Can we take a guess when the full intersection in all 4 direction is open???

They been working on the new cycling and pedestrian path for sometime off and on, but a lot of work to the east of that area.

Even with the officer there, there was an altercation as I was walking away with at least 10 cars honking. Looking back to see a bunch of cars trying to blow through the red light while others were trying to turn. Heard the officer blast his siren once and suddenly all the honking went silent.

I see a lot of dumb people on the eastbound right-turn-only lane (to DVP) squeeze their way left to go straight at the very end. Infuriating. Maybe they need to paint the right turn arrow a lot earlier on the pavement instead of relying on "wordy" signs on poles.
