^Thanks as always! I noticed the reference to a maintenance/works yard in the South Park for the first time. Great news as I would guess that the Booth Street complex is going to be available.

Assuming those are actual Anishinaabe based names and you didn't just run those through ChatGPT for the troll high fives here, they would sound really neat.
(All definitions from the Ojibwe dictionary)

Miskwaabikong Bridge
- Copper Bridge

Waawaashkeshi Zaaga'igan Bridge
- Deer Lake Bridge

Akiwensagong Bridge
- Old Man Bridge (I think, there's no exact match, but the root matches)

Nigig Minising Bridge

Ziinzibaakwad Gchi-mitigong Bridge
- Many Sugar Trees (sugar maple maybe?) Bridge

Nibiishens Zaaga'amikanaang Bridge

Here is the uopdate presented to WT's FARM Committee yesterday:

See, this is the thing. I had to dig and found that some of that info buried under "Events" on the Waterfront Toronto website. I guess it's an event? But it's more-so news, to me.

When I go to All Events on their events page. It shows a calender with highlighted days that you can hover over to get a popup notice. However, you can't interact with the calendar notes at all. So, June 5th, it shows a tooltip "Finance, Audit and Risk Management Committee Meeting - June 5, 2025" but nothing is clickable.

So, I thought "Ok, I'll just scroll down and find the information in the list".

First entry in the list "Human Resources, Governance and Stakeholder Relations Committee Meeting - June 12, 2025". Um, where the June 5th information that's in the Calendar at the top of the page? Grrr lol

Oh look an "Include past invents" box **click** **it unclicks** **click again** **it unclicks**

Whatever language it's in, it'd be great to have something that acknowledged the Don Mouth's renewal. It's pretty incredible we went from lakefilling that slammed it 90° into Keating Channel to something that has room to breathe and meander again.

Yes, in the 'good old days' if you clicked on the calendar you could link to all the documents for the meeting. Now, as some are not AODA compliant, they do not load most documents on their website and you need to ask for them. They send them quite fast but it's a stupid system and I REALLY doubt it is what AODA is meant to achieve!

It does do what AODA is meant to achieve, which is that material posted on a publicly accessible internet page meets accessibility standards. What we need is a "transparency act" that sets out that this type of material has to be made publicly available on a website (rather than on request), Then AODA would kick in and require them to make it accessible when they post it.

From many talks with WT staff, they are well aware what AODA requires - basically, as you say, that items posted on websites must meet accessibility standards. The problem is that they have been FAR too slow ensuring their documents meet this bar and if they don't (no matter how important) they are not posted and must be requested. (Not always easy to do as you need to know what to ask for.) WT should have started working on meeting the AIDA requirements several years ago and now need to allocate $$ to dealing with the HUGE backlog of documents that they agree OUGHT to be posted (and used to be posted).

Exactly. I vote for my last option.

Then we could hear 680News reporters say, "Traffic is backed up on the Nibiishens Zaaga'amikanaang Bridge."
Then I am not sure your suggestions of those names are entirely sincere. But that may not be important...

...as I hope those bridges named as such regardless and anyways.

Unsure if anyone else has seen it-

Bike Share doing a lot of work over at Polson Pier.

Do we get any numbers on Bike Share about how and why these decisions are made? This feels strongly influenced by Cabana/Rebel, and I can think of a handful of different places where a valet might be better set up.

That rack is fairly out of the way and only leading to those businesses (and an abbreviated dock side btw)

Probably to encourage people not to taxi/Uber or drive there? Doesn't Cherry Street get essentially completely clogged up if there's an event at Cabana/Rebel?

Sure, but do we devote that kind of service to any public entities?

St Lawrence market seems to keep bikeshare at a distance, and the nearest rack seems permanently full.

It’s a great location as there are several businesses down there as well as employees.

Not a great example, there are racks at a distance of ~70m (Lower Jarvis), ~130m (St Lawrence Hall), ~150m (Lower Jarvis Green P), ~170m (Church / Esplanade) and ~200m (Frederick / Esplanade). Having to go to an alternate rack is only a few minutes of hassle.

The scale of distances in the Port Lands right now is far greater (750m between Lakeshore, Polson, and Cherry Beach racks), since origins and destinations are few and far between. There will continue to be a relatively large gap until completion of Quayside, channel bridge, etc. For now the parks are rather isolated… like an island.
