This will be a landmark building for the area. I just wish they used different colour for the exterior cladding. The blue/grey is so bland. It seems like the default colours for this city and no one dares to go bold with anything else, except maybe white or black. Where are the greens, the reds or orange or heck even brown would be better than more grey/blue.

i think they definitely went bold here with the glass tile for cladding and COVERED in plants. Once the plants are in and take root, you'll get your green.

Wednesday, October 9. King Toronto cladding installation activities have been continuing over the past couple of weeks, primarily within the interior courtyard areas - so not too much visible, or photographable from the outside. However there are signs of progress on Level 4 of the cladding, along with a lot of newly delivered cladding sections which are currently being stored / staged along the back (Wellington Street) side of the property.

Not wishing to update with a large number of posts which individually may be relatively minor or trivial in new information - this and the following post contain a collection of photos from the past couple of weeks.

Level 4 cladding / glazing installation work in the courtyard:

Friday, October 3 - both the east and the west tower cranes working at the same time - typically there has only been one crane operator at a time on the site, alternating between the two cranes.

And the final three images from the past week. Morning sunrise on the east facade, and a couple of cladding installation in the courtyard area photos.

I agree. You can Immediately see the difference from the 1980's vs now. Even the old office towers have color vs now. It's crazy how the city has been doing this safe nonsense for decades with no end in sight.

That's what happens when institutionalization grabs hold and cares only about $$$.

That and investors milking the market using it as a piggy bank, and most Toronto developers not giving crap about the end product.

Thankfully this got underway before the market went to the gutter and Westbank began their struggles.

Thursday, October 9, between 7:30 and 8:00 AM - cladding crew back at work on Level 4 this morning. Looking forward to when they will be finished in the courtyard, and are working on one of the building's exterior facades. Installation of the cladding and glazing should proceed faster then, particularly on west, south and east facades - and then finally on the King Street side was well, once they get past integration of the new cladding with the heritage facades.
