To be fair, there is also the Fairview public school just north of Central Parkway (the school I went to). Fairview is also the name of the neighbourhood bordered by Hurontario Street to the east, Webb Drive to the north, Milton Line to the south, and Credit Woodlands to the west. However, with the establishment of the Urban Growth Centre, the buildings on the south side of Webb became of Downtown Core. The parts of the Fairview and Mississauga Valleys neighbourhoods within the UBC are now known as Downtown Fairview (with Downtown Cooksville and Downtown Hospital to the south. If anyone is to blame, it's the City of Mississauga and its planners, not Metrolinx. It's likely the City who pushed for the Fairview name.

Neighbourhoods
Downtown Fairview, Cooksville, and Hospital
I'm fully aware of the "Fairview" neighbourhood name which I've never heard anyone say in real life. It's not like "Fairview" (which, let's be real, is an extremely generic name to begin with and shows up literally everywhere, not least in the company name Cadillac Fairview and many of their malls) has any character on it's own. It's really just the low-rise part of MCC.

And I highly doubt the City had any input on the station name. These are typical Metrolinx shenanigans (just look at the station names on Eglinton or Finch, or stupid Old Elm or Barrie Waterfront) where they insist on using neighbourhood names for local transit stops despite the illogicality of it and how it detracts from wayfinding.

Hurontario northbound at Port Credit Go was a mess yesterday as paving was occurring just northbound of the station. Hopefully the lane shift to the new lanes will occur soon. During the week that stretch all the way to the QEW must be ugly to travel. Even at night I've noticed northbound backing up because of the new signals.
It took place Sunday just before I shot the area. You could still smell the fresh paved road and see the tires markings crossing the the track area. They mill and pave the two southbound lanes on the south side right to the guideway curb with southbound traffic still using the northbound lane. All traffic is single lane between the South Service Rd and Park St and the second lane for the shift cannot open until the rest of the short section of the guideway and track work is built between the new crossing and the north guideway. There will be two lanes in both directions with no turning lane to the plaza and Englewood. The new southbound traffic light is at the north end of the barrier wall.

The guideway base is now poured from Englewood to PC station. Tracks in place south of Mineola waiting forming and final adjustments before concrete to be pour for them. All track work in place from Pinewood to Mineola with a section south of Pinewood poured in place with another area formed to be pour with the rest still been prepared to be form.

Pinetree is fully close with the top of the existing road gone from the temporary driveway to south of the South Service Rd with the new right turn lane open to gain access to the QEW eastbound lane. The north east corner for the South Service Rd is paved with crew forming the the curb for Hurontario and the westside ramp for the ramp that will shift traffic to the right this week. This will allow work to start on the first haft of the guideway for the intersection.

Brew working on forming the exiting east pier for the QEW overpass.

The south east corner for the southbound traffic is still in the same condition from 2025.

I just added 275 photos I shot on Sunday to my 200 still in backlog for the corridor from end to end.

June 7
We are 4-5 months away for all the construction of guideway and intersections work excluding track work to be finally completed.

Brampton
All guideway is basely done with only the pouring of the base for the Steeles and Ray Lawson Station area as well the section south of Ray Lawson. Sir Lou, plaza/courthouse and the two 407 ramps intersections still need guideway work. Both Sir Lou and the plaza/courthouse intersections will see full closure that will take 4 weeks to do them. The ramps will see traffic shift north and south of the current locations to build the guideway for them.

Both Ray Lawson and the fire station driveway are ready for track work that should take three weeks to do them. Lancashire Ln intersection maybe open by this coming weekend or early the following week as crew were doing the final wrapping of the rails to be encase in concrete that may see concrete been pour on Monday. Utility work taking place in the southbound lane next to the guideway north of Lancashire Ln.

Based on what I saw, all guideway and intersections work could be completed other than track work by the end of August depending on a few intersections.

I just noticed a substation has been installed at the south-west corner of the Husky station and easy to be miss.

Forming for the main platform for Sir Lou station underway. Duct work for Ray Lawson Station is in place and once the base is pour for it, the base of the guideway can be pour for that section.

Would say 1/4 of the first section of the guideway north of the 407 ramp is poured with another section ready to be pour with the last 1/4 still been worked on.

Mississauga
The first haft of the guideway north of Topflight has tracks in place with steel mats almost place in the second haft.

No change to the Overhead system from the yard to Hurontario St. Overhead installed totally for Topflight intersection as well to the south of Derry Rd as two lines with the top line supporting the main line. Not all supports in place that will have the top holding the main line. Top wire in place as far as Superior. At this rate, we may see testing late fall or by year end and it could .run from Steeles to some where south of Burnhamthorpe depending where the overhead is ready for it.

Had a look at Derry Station and all the slabs in place for the edges with a fair number of piles still there. Unless something changes, a concrete slab for the platform will be pour to bring the current concrete top up to the same height of the edge slabs.

All northbound traffic on detour for the last few days for two blocks north of Waltline with vacuum truck doing something north of Waltline with four dump trucks siting on Waltline. It looks like the lanes are to be pave after what is every taking place for that area. The crossover track is finally done and formed to be pour in place.

By the end of June, southbound traffic should be using the originals lanes as only a small section rails still need to be wrap to allow concrete to be pour for them this coming week. Road crash barriers have been installed on either side of the ramp to the 403. Track work will most likely start this week for the ramp from Rathbun bridge to Square One Dr.

Need a real close up aerial shot of the wye area to see where the track work is with the last section to be done where the current opening is before the wall can be built for the opening.

The city has stated since day one that nothing was to take place for the Rathburn bridge, but it to take place. A small section of the centre area is broken and based on the curbs on the both ends of it, it will see the the centre area rebuild to reduce the with of it to allow a new lane to be built on both side of it. This will allow a southbound left turn lane for the new Square one Dr extension and a extra northbound lane to deal with the backup issue for the 403 on ramps. One can say the same thing for the Sherwood intersection for a southbound left lane.

Based on barrier walls on the south end of Burnhamthorpe Station, a slopping ramp is to be built there to allow access to the station from Matthew Gates. The last section should be pour this week.

Did not look at Rathbun Station Gate area,

The first haft of Fairview intersection is now open for only eastbound traffic with crews grading the northside.

Nothing new for the rest of the corridor. When work starts on the Dundas intersection this week, the last real section of roadwork for the guideway will take place from King St to Dundas. The only remaining intersection and small section of guideway will be from the North Service Rd to The South Service Rd.

Fairview pre-dates MCC and Square One, so it's more of an extension of Cooksville than a part of MCC. There are still bungalows and apartment buildings from the 50s and 60s there. Fairview Road itself was built in the 50s. It's one of the oldest streets in Mississauga.

With both Fairview and Downtown Fairview neighbourhoods, the city seems intent on establishing its identity, and no doubt they see the LRT station as part of that.

GO isn't a local system, so stations being named after neighbourhoods seems normal. Cooksville station doesn't really serve Cooksville either. It's not the main transit hub of Cooksville, and there will be 3 other LRT stations within Cooksville.

The Hurontario LRT is very much a local system. It was a Mississauga and Brampton-led project initially, not GO. It's just as local as the Eglinton LRT. Even the subway is essentially a local type of transit. Just look at the stop spacing on the LRTs/subway versus GO. They serve very different functions. Regional transit stations being named after neighbourhoods is very normal, hence why we have Cooksville GO, Port Credit GO, Streetsville GO, etc. But that same naming scheme generally has no business on a local route, with the occasional exception (Scarborough Centre, North York Centre, Vaughn Metropolitan Centre, to name some valid ones). But naming local transit stations after obscure neighborhoods that no one knows doesn't help with way finding (e.g. Cedarvale) and is in fact confusing in the case of Fairview where it's a block away from Fairview Road and is actually on Central Parkway.

June 10
Formwork strip from the retraining walkway wall at Matthew Gates now it has been poured, No track work for the ramp to Square One Dr.

Concrete has been poured today for the track base crossing Hurontario St at the 403,

Absolute Dr has no left turning for southbound traffic until June 26 and cannot see what is taking place as I pass it on the bus.

Matheson intersection is close for all left turns with only Eastbound traffic not allow to across the intersection. New bullnose protection for sidewalk on both sides of the intersection have been poured between the two tracks.

Concrete has been poured to encased the rebar for the ramp but it is only the subbase at this time. Not sure what the rebar frame is for on the east side of the ramp and it could be for the next pour for the ramp. The westside frame is missing and it means the east one is all that is needed or waiting for it..

Waterline work is taking place between Waltline and Trader for the northbound lane next to the guideway and could get any shots of the trackwork with vehicles in the way.

The north haft of Fairview Dr as well the area on the northside that had no base since 2025 is now pour and ready for track work. By right, the intersection should be open by month end or sooner depending when track work take place. A small curb was being form and could be pour tomorrow.

We are now 20 hours before the mess take place for Dundas intersection with mobile sign advising southbound traffic of the closure starting June 11. It will be the last day to make a legal left turn for northbound traffic at Dundas. When phase two take place, it will be the end to make left turns to the plaza. With phase one closure, I expect an area on both side of Dundas will allow drivers to make an U-turn to gain access to the four plazas.

Edit;
With the base poured for tracks for the southbound crossing at the 403, it means that shifting of the southbound lanes will take place next week with the opening of the west sidewalk. Once the shift takes place, the rest of the guideway will be dug out.

The Station Gate Station will be about 150-200 feet from the current crosswalk with station duct work in place. the guideway base is being compacted by the crosswalk with shoring rig on site. will be interesting to to see how they will deal for the track work for the loop going west from the station.

We keep inching closer and closer to the due date.

There were two new notices put up for track destressing work between Hurontario/Queensway to Hurontario/Eglinton as well as from Hurontario/407 to Hurontario/Steeles Avenue.

Additionally, I was reading an InSauga article where businesses were lamenting the short notice being given by ML for the road closure. https://www.insauga.com/closing-maj...-on-short-notice-unacceptable-businesses-say/ From what I understand, businesses were intended to be provided at least 2 weeks worth of notice before closures occur, especially in BIA territory for Cooksville, and they only received notice last Friday after the office closed.

I have stated since mid 2025 that the line would open in 2028 with a possible December 2027 date if the line got substantial completion even though there was sill sidewalks and landscaping going into 2028 subject to the completion of the overhead system. Based on where the overhead is at this time, December 2027 date is dead

I was told earlier this year about the stress testing that will be happening this year and yet to see one so far. This test will see any excess rail remove with a new splice for that area. One reason why there are large gaps between rails gaps today.

The Cooksville BIA was well aware of the plan closure back in May and were concern it would effect the September event. They were not aware of no more left turn for Dundas for northbound traffic due to lack of road space and miWay bus stop. I was at that meeting with ML heading the meeting. The ward Councillor is out of date as how intersections are close as well a timeline for them and has known for the past year that Dundas intersection would be around 8 weeks of closure. She will not be the ward Councillor after October election as she is running for mayor and will be defeated. There been two different takes by ML the last year how Dundas would be close with input from the city from being done in hafts or what is taking place now with no firm comment back in May as to which one would with the current one being the one as well date. The crying and honking starts around 7 pm tonight and expect you will need at least 10-20 minutes exert traveling time depending on the day and hour.

Unless something take place between 12 am to 9 am on Friday to allow a U-turn at Agnes, all residents, shoppers and business including CIBC are shit out of luck getting to them by car on the east side of Hurontario from Dundas to Hillcrest. The area where an U-turn could happen has been mill for the guideway from the dirt area to just south of Dundas. The dirt area is been used a pedestrian crossing. This is opposed to what was supposed to take place and the BIA has a right to complain.

A second milling machine started to mill the eastbound bus layover area and it looks like it will mill the southside parking area pass the Bell chamber that hasn't been pave right. Two saw cutting machines are cutting Dundas on the east side of Hurontario.

As nominal, a few eastbound drivers on Agnes didn't think the road closure sign and police on duty to stop traffic going northbound in the single southbound lane apply to them. A few dumb drivers caught the police officer off guard as well an construction worker dealing with trucks arriving to the site that a few head on almost took place.

All the crossover tracks, switches, ties and mats have been removed south of Hillcrest and laying on top the tracks to the south.

Nothing new for Fairview.

Formwork strip for the curb at Fairview with no track work yet.

The lane on both side of the guideway from Hillcrest to Angie has been mill with sweeping require before being repave.

A few cars are now sitting at various spots for various locations for business on the east side of Hurontario St from last night. There is a backdoor to Hurontario St off Dundas I found with some traffic using it to get to the various plazas as well the office building that only had a handful of cars in its lots. There is a driveway under a Dundas building to get to the parking lot for that building with a ramp to the office building and Hurontario.

The pedestrian walkway at Angie is gone with police and workers telling people to go up to Hillcrest to cross the road but most are crossing the guideway instead.

The area where the U-turn was to be that was mill last night has been backfill and hard to say it will be a U-turn area or allow the digging of the guideway that was almost done. The whole centre area of the Dundas intersection is dug out with all kind of work taking place there including a square box duct bank frame. Some of the centre hole includes parts of the east side of Dundas, All curbs on the east side of the intersection has been removed including the rebuilt eastbound bus layover bay. Form work for the layover in place as well stakes for the new curb to be pour. A great section of parking area on the southside has been removed as well east of the Bell chamber.

A new pedestrian walkway will be in place on Monday for the northside of Dundas.

As expected, cars are using the west sidewalk to gain access yo the various plazas that have come very close hitting a number of pedestrians. It has been reported to the police during the day on duty but they only can deal with the area they are on duty for. Mobilinx is aware of this issues and it has been forward to the safety department by white hats who have seen this first hand.

Talking a few officers, they will be glad when their time is up for stopping traffic for the area that have come close been hit personally or sitting in the car by drivers who disobeyed the road closure signs and barriers, A few thought there area was only until Monday until I told them it was tell August. Great communication.

The full closure is till Monday, and the partial is until June 30 at 10 pm. The original communication had said August but that is out of date as far as I know.

Also, decided to go on a walk to get my steps in today and took a few pics around the area. I am always hesitant to snap pics with workers around, but managed to get a few.

I am skeptical that they'll get enough done to be ready for partial opening on Monday, but I'm not an expert by any means.

Based on my experience over the years, you will catch workers in photos one way or another regardless how careful you try not to do it. Most workers accept this but you will run into a small number of workers who will say don't shoot me while a greater number saying shoot me or the group of workers. Don't shoot those who want to be shot. I try to not to shot the faces of workers but nearly impossible to do as someone face pop-up as to shoot what you are shooting.

Legally, you can shoot anyone without permission so long it not for a publication, making money, campaign as long you are on public property. Under Canadian law, including the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, you are free to photograph or film anyone and anything in plain view in public areas. People generally have no expectation of privacy when they are out in the open (e.g., on streets, in parks, or on public transit)

Despite the general rule, you can run into legal issues in the following situations:
  • Reasonable Expectation of Privacy: Taking photos in private settings—such as through a window into someone’s home, or in restrooms, locker rooms, and medical facilities—is illegal and can lead to charges like Criminal Voyeurism. [1, 2]
  • Harassment: If you persistently take photos of someone despite them asking you to stop, your actions could cross the line into harassment or stalking. [1, 2]
  • Commercial Use: If you plan to use a recognizable photo of someone for commercial purposes (such as advertising or selling the image), you must obtain a signed Model Release Form to protect yourself from invasion of privacy or unauthorized use of their image. [1, 2, 3, 4]
  • Quebec: Privacy and photography laws in Quebec are different from the rest of Canada. Rooted in the Quebec Civil Code, individuals have stricter rights regarding the use and publication of their image in public. [1, 2]
  • Is the photo intended for commercial use or just for personal/artistic purposes?
  • Are you photographing a private event or property?
  • Were you planning to capture the image in Quebec

Base on what I was seeing Friday night and what was stated to me Thursday and Friday night. only the north-south lanes will be open on Monday and only right turn for Dundas. That is the same as the notices. Depending on things on Sunday, may have a look at the intersection.

June 14
Made it down to Dundas at 8:30pm since it was raining when I first try. The northbound lane south of Hillcrest will not be pave until the wee hours of Monday morning after they pave the southbound lanes for Dundas and some on the westside on Dundas. All the east side of Hurontario St for all of Dundas lanes are paved and waiting striping. Paving of the northbound lanes could happen before midnight as they were only just at Dundas at 10 pm when I left with the southside still to be done as well the intersection.

A walkway on the northside of Dundas this being built and will open on Monday. The base of the guideway across Dundas is poured and waiting track work. Rails on site for the track work. Based on what is there now, Dundas intersection should be open by the end of June or the first week of July. This will be a lot sooner than the August date.

The rest of the guideway will be built to Angie after Dundas is open as well the guideway to King St including the station. According to Mobilinx, the city is responsible for the NO Left Turn Sign for northbound at Dundas and need a better signage than the overhead one but driver will make that illegal turn anyway.

There is a large area between Angie guideway and the Dundas one that will allow U-turn to take place again or will be use as a storage area.

The northbound track is in place on the ramp from the Square One Dr to Rathburn and hard to see if any southbound track in place but should be this week.

Topcoat pour for the tracks at the 403 crossing of the southbound lanes and ready for backfilling. The gaps are a lot larger than other intersection and could be done this week with traffic using by the weekend. Crews working on tracks or X on both sides of the crossing in the dark.
