They are breaking brand new concrete at intersections because they did it wrong. Complete waste of money and resources. The progress on this line is dismal at best.
Where are you seeing this? Most of the intersections north of the 401 where fully rebuilt with Topflight itself being done now and a remaining area for part of the OMSF tracks connecting to Topflight still to be done. All of the OMSF tracks where rebuilt that were encased in concrete including Topflight intersection There are large areas where tracks are pour in place that will see the anchor base rebuilt to deal with gauge issues. They are breaking brand new concrete at intersections because they did it wrong. Trader intersection saw a small amount trackwork on the north side done, haft of Matheson northbound track intersection so far and will look at later tonight when I have to up that way as well Watergarden intersection. Haven't seen the corridor since February to see if anything else has change.
The work from OMSF to Matheson was to have been complete by the end of 2022 to allow testing of the new fleet to start in February 2023. In February 2025, testing was to start in July to Eglinton in place of Matheson and should now happen by September 2026. The first test will be a walking speed with the first LRV been tow to check for issues. It will take place for both tracks.
This has to deal with Alstom failing to fix the bogies of the LRV's to meet NA standards and their warranty. Ottawa LRV's started this issue that are the same car for Finch, Hurontario and Hamilton.
Hurontario / Barondale shows a notice for March 16 - April 13
Hurontario / Brunel shows one for March 3 - March 16 (haven't been in that area in a while but it SHOULD be done by now)
There are some others that should have been done in February.
The rails connecting OMSF on Topflight are still covered and have a heater going.
Nothing for me to report on in Brampton, the guideway construction near Ray Lawson is more than likely being left alone until warmer weather comes. A lot of it looks like it's covered by the orange tarps they have. Some sections of Ray Lawson/Hurontario are being blocked off for utility work that's being done in phases. I believe once they're finished that, they'll be good to continue with shifting lanes over.
February saw Brunel, Trader, Matheson intersections been worked on. The whole of Topflight Dr was also been worked. The first haft was done on Feb 21 and trap with the rest of the tracks being removed is slab section to the intersection. Due to the weather, no shots taken that day. The second section is near completion today. No idea if the intersection will see work for the curve track, but the missing guideway and part of the OMSF guideway need to be built as rebuilt with driveways in the way.It was near Hurontario and Traders Blvd
Pedestrian crossing? lolI saw the underbridge tracks on Thursday but didn't have time to post pics. Here they are, with bonus CP train thanks to lucky timing.
What is that concrete section? A crossover for emergency vehicles? I can't imagine it would be open to regular traffic.

They have been busy in Brampton with the good weather the last few weeks as they have most of the southbound curb poured and paved the new southbound lanes with strips. Not all lanes are open for the northbound at Steeles but enough to allow construction to get underway shortly for the guideway with all been done by the summer excluding trackwork that should be done by fallIn Brampton, it seems that the N/S directions of travel have been shifted to the new lanes with the middle sections reserved for the guideway. There's still some work to be done around Ray Lawson/Hurontario, but the utility work on Sir Lou has been completed. I posted a video below as an update since the weather seemed to cooperate today. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

The corners of Ray Lawson intersection still need to be done to allow the guideway to be built on both sides of it as well across it,
Looks like the other haft of Topflight is done with trap on it with work still to be done north of the intersection to 407 bus terminal for the OMSF guideway.
Now, when will the guideway work take place for the first intersection and which one will it be?? The fire station will be done in two phases like the one for Mississauga firs station at the Queensway.
They have poured the guideway base just north of Topflight
Looks like they have dug the guideway on both sides of the 407 overpass up to the off ramps from the 407.
Great video
It been stated in the past as well last year, the Steeles Station is on the south side as per the 2019 contract unless some behind the scene changes have taken place. Don't recall the Guideway going across Steeles under the current contract as it was rule out in 2019 by ML due to the cost and delaying the opening of the line in 2024. This could be a change now since the Brampton extension is now approve that will not see service until about 2035 with ML being tight lip on it. We may know more in April when ML appears before all three councils.I'm super excited to see what this year will bring.
I was also looking at the construction notices today as well and came across this notice for pretty much the entire Brampton area.
It seems to hint that construction is going to also happen at Bartley Bull Parkway which is.... Curious to me because the terminus is south of Steeles, not North of it. It makes me wonder if this is just to fix the lane alignment, or if they're actually going to cut across Steeles and put the terminus on the Northbound section which is what I was hoping for all this time.
Yeah, I thought so too. I wish I could be present when ML appears before the council because I have questions I'd at least want to get on the record so they know someone out there is looking. It been stated in the past as well last year, the Steeles Station is on the south side as per the 2019 contract unless some behind the scene changes have taken place. Your video shows all of Brampton been done by the fall and year end if the station is going to be move to the north side like it should have been since day one. As for the overhead system, I have no timeframe for it. They need to have a substation at Steeles.
I am aware of that TPSS and expect another one in the Steeles area like they did at Port Credit Station. There should be an TPSS before the creek and one at the Brampton Station with an unknown location between them for another. Since Brampton wants the subway at an extra $2+ Billion in cost, it will get push down the road as there is no money to cover the cost with all the other big projects on the books eating the money up.Yeah, I thought so too. If you look at the video at around 1:12, you'll see the TPSS on the left hand side.

For the Brampton extension into Downtown, I have no idea what their plans are or where they'd even put a TPSS as space is very limited in that corridor already.
I was looking at distances and trying to understand why the distance between the TPSS that exists varies so much. For instance, there's one at Hurontario / Watergarden, and one on Hurontario / Dundas. If there's one for MCCC, I don't see it mentioned anywhere, because that's otherwise a 4KM distance between those two substations. There should be an TPSS before the creek and one at the Brampton Station with an unknown location between them for another.
