The stations take 2.5 - 3 years to complete, but likely Mount Dennis, Allen, and Yonge will take more time. The line opens in 2021. Construction will likely start by the end of the year on all stations. Fall 2016 + approx 3 years station build + approx 1 year to finish Mount Dennis, Allen, Yonge, and integrating the stations and the line + 6 months testing and commissioning + contingency = sometime after Spring 2021.

so the last piece of this puzzle is "why is Mount Dennis and Yonge being done last after the other stations are completed"?
 
Remember that Yonge also involves MOVING the current Line 1 station north by a good half station length. That's not an easy task on an operating subway line.
ok so what will make it easier to do in 4 years then starting now (well once tunnelling to Yonge is complete? But what about Mount Dennis? There is no subway there now

There is an active railway overhead at the Mount Dennis Station location. In addition, there will be connections to the maintenance yards on the former Kodak lands next door to it, and the maintenance yards & buildings as well.

hurray, that's my stop. I do not see the MPP or councillor in that photo though. Guess we will need to get prepared for development along keele. The old court house on Keele (south of Lawrence ) is up for sale. Humber Hospital on Keele already sold.

I am still trying to understand why 5 years to construct. I thought it takes 3 years to build stations. At Metrolinx meeting last week they sais 25 years

Courthouse? Which building was that?

That's what the councillor called it. It was where you went to fight parking tickets on 2265 Keele St
 
A finished station isn't creating construction noise, dust, and having trucks coming in and out.

Plus why can't eglinton west and Mount Dennis get started at the same time as constructions on other LRT stations? This way bearing complications further east they can open the line from Mount Dennis to Eglinton west and the politician can have a ribbon cutting ceremony, then when the rest is done say to Yonge, another ribbon cutting ceremony and then when yonge to kennedy stations are complete another ribbon cutting ceremony This way 3 ribbon cutting for the same project. Lets not forget another one when it reach UTSC and then another at Pearson. That's 5 ribbon cutting ceremony from one line.

Is that not what they do now - commit to funding something, then commit the same funding for the same thing later in mandate when the funding never happened the first time and so on and so on

Not sure what the issue is. The plan is for the line, and all the stations, to open the same day, in 2021 - about 5 years from now.

There is no plan to open any of the stations before the line opens - though I suppose it's not impossible that some new walkways at Eglinton, Eglinton West, or Kennedy might not open earlier.

Mount Dennis is a simple station, I don't know why you guys think it's difficult. It's almost at ground level so it will take a shorter time to construct. Mt Dennis and Science Centre which are along an alignment that is constructed by cut and cover would take significantly less time than the deep TBM stations. Cedarvale, Eglinton and Kennedy are the difficult ones. They'll take about 4.5 years.
The other stations would take 3 years or so. They won't start all the construction at one time cause that will screw up traffic for the entire corridor and they'll lack equipment to built everything at the same time. They'll do an assembly line process, start at Keelesdale and move east. Plus they will use Keelesdale Station as a pilot station so it'll go a little slower than the rest of them.

The elevated bridge across Black Creek would be done in 2018 and would stand empty for three years! The surface stops would be done in late 2019. We'll be staring at this LRT for a long time without trains.

I hope they have public tours of the near-complete stations and stops as part of doors open Toronto.
