The TBM Tracker has been updated, see https://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msa=0&msid=214696212489798251360.0004e908bf153fd87ea17&hl=en&ie=UTF8&t=m&ll=43.687395,-79.481398&spn=0.004593,0.008393&source=embed&dg=feature or http://www.thecrosstown.ca/progress/track-the-tunnel-boring-machine

There is only one problem. It does not reflect where the Caledonia Station should be. They must not be using GPS to position where they are. They should be going straight, and not follow the Eglinton jog at this point.

I saw, right.

I think it was at Gabian Way last week, so it seems to have moved ~100m this week.

There's 2.5 km till Allen Rd, so if it keeps that pace it would arrive in 25 weeks, so about 6 months. Of course, it may not move at a constant speed.

The tech they are using seems to force the route to follow roads, like when you drop "detour" markers when using google maps they latch onto the nearest road.

The map isn't an exact process, it's there to show you general progress.

I imagine using GPS in a tunnel might be challenging.

Presumably they stop tunnelling once an hour or something, and stick a periscope up in the centre of Eglinton to check where they are ...

More like radiowaves or microwaves. Or like how one finds buried wires or pipes. In this case, a very big pipe.

Thought so. It is rather unlikely they went *west* and tunnelled to Black Creek and Eglinton (which the map seems to show if read literally).

A time lapse video of the map would be useful to measure the (approximate) rate of progress.
