What is happening?
• Crews working on behalf of Metrolinx will begin construction of the structural support for the
elevated guideway of the Eglinton Crosstown West Extension.
• Work will take place at the intersection of Emmett Avenue and Eglinton Avenue West
• This work consists of building the deck, a key element of the future elevated guideway
bridge.
What to expect
• The eastbound left turning lane towards Emmett Avenue on Eglinton Avenue West will be
temporarily closed during the duration of this work.
• Public vehicle access Emmett Avenue from Eglinton Avenue West will be closed during the
work period. Vehicle access at the Emmet Avenue intersection will be re-opened at 5:00 a.m.
until 9:00 p.m.
• Clear signage for the proposed alternative route (as shown in the second map above) to
access Emmett Avenue from Jane Street will be displayed.
• TTC servicing bus-stop ID 2425 will be impacted during work hours from 9:00 p.m. to 1:00
a.m.
• Flaggers will be employed as needed to keep vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians moving
safely.
• Sections of the sidewalks on the north side of Eglinton Avenue West will remain closed
during this work.
• The sidewalk on the south side of Eglinton Avenue West will remain open.
• Nearby residents can expect to experience noise, vibration and dust associated with general
construction activities and equipment. Crews will be monitoring the activity and will take
steps to mitigate vibration, noise and dust where possible.
• Work may be delayed or rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen
circumstances. Weekend work may be required as needed.
• Work is subject to permit approval from the City of Toronto.

We were considering the constructability factors, not the stop spacing.

And frankly given the total lack of density between Jane and Scarlett I can't see the need for a station anywhere in between, seniors or otherwise. Even the hirise buildings on Emmett are just a tad too far from the line to be served by a station at Emmett, and on a hill. The bus will be needed to get them to the LRT.

People don't like that the 35 Jane has to spend an extra 10 minutes ± to go from Jane Street along Eglinton Avenue West to Mt. Dennis Station. The same reaction would happen should Scarlett Road bus passengers have to detour to Royal York or Jane Street.

They are planning or constructing new developments in the area, which will mean more customers for both Scarlett Station and Jane-Eglinton Station.

Since the Crosstown opened, I have been making a lot of use of the 73 from Royal York station to Mount Dennis. I seem to be about the only rider who goes end to end. The route does a good job between Emmett and Mount Dennis, and as a branch of the service along Royal York ….with coverage of Scarlett/Larose…. But ridership wise it seems to be two routes each feeding their respective end point.
Possibly this will change when the extension opens, but the folks who live on Emmett do not seem to work or play in South Etobicoke, or vice versa

I sent a request to the TTC that the Royal York 73B southbound should have a stop at La Rose & Royal York. They could move the nearside southbound stop (Stop Number: 7003) at Royal York & La Rose to the farside corner, to serve all Royal York southbound buses. Guess they might get around to do that when the Line 5 extension opens for business.

Would use that stop to use the medical offices and medical testing labs near that stop.

So how hot of a take is it for me to say if we get another western extension from Renforth it should be along Eglinton all the way to Ridgeway instead of taking over the transitway to MCC? (Assume full loop implementation for this take).

Considering the current ridership on the Miway 35 Eglinton route, 3 trains an hour during peak and 2 trains an hour off peak should be more than sufficient. There would only be speed improvement if built as a grade separated line, otherwise the current bus would be faster. Pretty much if 4 of every 5 trains short turns at Renforth, it would be good enough. Anyways, this is complete non sense to even extend the crosstown across Mississauga. It can stay closed on weekends and late evenings.

Would use the Mississauga Transitway using buses to connect with the Hurontario Hazel McCallion LRT Line.
100 no longer exists since 2020, now the airport's served by the 107 which goes from Sq. 1 -> Viscount -[during school season]-> humber

i think a greater problem is that MiWay/Mississauga don't promote the transitway as much as they should... it really should be treated like a RT, like Hurontario, but instead they seem content with 20m headways.

Mississauga has a total different commuting pattern than Toronto. People don’t ride a bus to a trunk line to get to “downtown” Mississauga. Nor do they just the trunk line to connect from one parallel route to another. They simply drive while the bus network is for those who can’t afford a car.

So having a very frequent service on the transitway won’t attract riders. Now that the international students are gone, both Miway and Brampton Transit ridership has collapsed. Expect more cuts soon.

The city has also failed to properly take full advantage of the transitway. There should be more routes that run around local areas, and then instead of ending somewhere like Erin Mills, shoot along a piece of transitway somewhere. This would both improve transitway frequency and improve connectivity.

I’m staying at my sister's place in Mississauga and Transit, bicycles and pedestrians are an afterthought to cars. I find infuriating that you have push the push a button to get a cross signal at major intersections when half of the buttons don’t work.

I find it to be the opposite problem. Tons of LPIs when there are zero pedestrians. Just wastes my time as a driver. Why have an LPI when there's not a soul in sight? The lack of logic boggles my mind.
