Club Monaco closing their Eaton Centre stores seems quite surprising. I hope that’s not foreshadowing a further shut down of the company. I wonder if they could reopen in the Eaton Centre. It would be a shame to see them leave altogether.

I believe they recently closed their STC location as well.

Club Monaco is in the way of a two story flagship anchor space with street level presence or hospitality use that leverages Eaton Centre's enviable Yonge Street location.

The vacant street level unit (5012sq/ft) has stairs (currently drywalled off) up to the 2nd floor Club Monaco space (10,722 sq/ft). Cadillac Fairview has had trouble leasing the 5,012 sq/ft space by itself. It's been vacant since 2017. It needs a mall connection and Club Monaco would connect it.

I'm all for activating Yonge Street, specially if this becomes a restaurant or pub. If those across the street are any indication, Yonge Street is gaining prominence for hospitality and Cadillac Fairview has lagged behind the opportunity. Eaton Centre needs more mixed uses, specially after hours.

This was a completely wild guess and it may turn out to be right: demolition work is happening in the Yonge Street unit I mentioned a couple pages back.

This space would be needed for an entrance to the Club Monaco unit from Yonge Street.

Let the tenant guessing games begin.

I thought you were talking about the street level unit circled in blue in the original post?

Am I wrong that the photos here are of the unit circled in red? The prior Natural Solutions Salon & Spa? That's what it looks like to me with the curved wall and salon-like interior. Does this unit also connect to the Club Monaco space?

I assume you took these photos yourself? Is the unit photographed south or north of the ramp to the parking lot? I am a bit confused which street level unit you meant.

You’re totally right. I forgot I had crossed the parking garage when I noticed the construction. The curve makes sense now.

Does this using also connect to the Club Monaco space?

It could, but we'd be talking about a more ambitious assembly of units:

It wouldn't be far fetched for this to become one unit, particularly if it's for hospitality. A restaurant could have window seating across the entire stretch. A lot of this square footage is wasted space because it doesn't connect to the mall. Consolidating it into one unit gives it a Yonge Street presence and mall access.

Simon’s is having an open house hiring event today so must be opening in Fall?!

The store is essentially finished. I got a quick glance in when construction crews opened the door. My bet is Simons opens for back to school before September, probably in August. Hiring now tells me they're planning to open in weeks, not months. The staff they hire now will be merchandising the store so they're close.

Eataly I'm not sure and Nike just started and is still far behind—both likely aiming for a Fall opening.

For reference, here is a photo I took this morning of construction work for the new Nike store, with the corridor to the Simons on the right:

Does anyone else find it humorous that Sport Chek is in the food court surrounded by unhealthy fast food? Just me? 😅

There aren't enough healthy choices in the Eaton Centre food court. I'd love to see that Sport Chek space occupied by a Marché type buffet restaurant. Sport Check could be relocated to street level at the newly renovated 2 Queen West, once occupied by Atmosphere — both of which are now owned by Canadian Tire.

SportChek would be such a waste of 2 Queen West now that it's been restored. But, still better than a bank or a weed shop I guess.

Otherwise, yeah agreed that it's kinda weird to have a floor of nothing but food options and then a random sporting goods store (which is very oddly laid out due to the shape of the space)
