Aaniin will be opening a seasonal pop-up in the former Le Chateau 2nd floor space, directly beside Aritzia.

The space is currently home to the American Eagle temporary location, which will be closing to open the permanent store on the 1st floor.

Here's the job posting for the 'Seasonal Storyteller' role, which shares the following:

"At Aaniin Retail Inc., every conversation starts with aaniin. This isn’t just a greeting—it’s an invitation to reclaim Indigenous spaces through commerce and connection. This December, we’re opening a 6,500 sq. ft. pop-up store beside Aritzia in the Eaton Centre, Canada’s busiest shopping mall. It’s more than just a retail space—it’s a movement to put Indigenous brands at the forefront of the retail landscape. Through storytelling and fashion, we’re reclaiming our economy one sale at a time."

So, are they building a second floor out into the atrium, cuz that’s a lot of thick iron going on thereView attachment 606518

My guess would be to give Simons a retail frontage/entrance facing the mall (with escalators up to a new mezzanine under the atrium).
That gives Simons some presence and a "wow" factor for an entrance, versus just an escalator inside the old Eaton's building.

Saint Germain Bakery will be opening on Level 2, right near the Dundas Station southbound entrance, beside the Real Fruit Bubble Tea shop.

Downstairs on Level 1, Mr. Pretzels has closed and will be replaced by...Wetzel's Pretzels.

From last week, here's a tiny little peek at the ongoing construction for the upcoming Simons/Nike/Eataly:

A combination Suzy Shier / Le Chateau will be opening on Level 1, between Journeys and Zumiez, where the Blue Jays shop used to be.

Treehouse Toys will be going to the former GNC space near the Queen St. entrance.

On Level 2, Lacoste will be moving a few stores down into the former Abercrombie Kids.

I thought Le Chateau was dead and buried? Man I miss shopping there and frequently finding funky items...30 years ago 😮

And an actual toy store opening?? I'm pleasantly gobsmacked.

I would much rather the It Store make a return.

Nothing quite like walking into the store to find walls full of adult toys mixed in with PG-13 gifts!
Yes, I loved that chain! Mainstream retail has no edge or variety anymore.

The closest thing I can think of is Spencer Gifts in Dufferin Mall - alternative fashions, crass, offensive T-shirts, and a bunch of smut in the back!

Naturally I'm a regular.
