I just joked with one of the workers this morning as I walked by. There are pylons EVERYWHERE and I joked "Are you guys making an obstacle course?", The guy chuckled and, over the sound of traffic, I thought I heard him say "We're laying tracks" or tractors or something lol.

I assume that at least part of the work on Eastern is for the new watermain. https://www.waterfrontoronto.ca/construction-notice-3-broadview-and-eastern-flood-protection-project

Oh that. further up Eastern Avenue, well east of the hub (right now), there is a lot of watermain construction. Some of it has been completed east of Knox Avenue. West of Knox looks to be in progress. I took picks of that too as I walked. 😂 I don't see any work or pipes around the area west of Broadview (yet).

I guess, technically, not the right thread but if this work is headed all the way to, and through, the Eastern Hub, I guess it applies to some extent...

The traffic cones are in place though (minus any pipe materials), based on the images from the WFT webpage though for sure. West side of Broadview on Eastern Avenue.

I've been posting shots of that area in the generic Ontario Line thread, since it's not part of the station. Although, I've always posted Gerrard & Exhibition portals in the station threads as well as the OL thread, so I will start to do that with the Lower Don Crossing going forward.

Here is a shot from yesterday and couple weeks ago of the cut & cover tunnel East of Cherry St. and Lower Don Crossing.

One thing I keep wondering and haven't really seen it addressed is how they plan to go over/under the bala sub that turns north on the immediate west side of the valley. Is there enough space to come off the new bridge and dive deep to get under the tracks? but then in the first photo above, looks like the ontario line will dive well west of the merger of bala and the main CN trunk line. Anyone come across details of this?

Watch here between 30-40s mark and you’ll see how the Bala sub will shift overtop of the open cut portal section once it is covered.
