Thanks for sharing. I agree something as cool as this sculpture would be perfect.Yes, I wrote about this a few pages back. There's a plinth built into the plaza, awaiting a sculpture of some sort.

No artist has been revealed. This looks like a placeholder. It kind of looks like a Richard Serra but to my knowledge, Mr. Serra has become hmm... unavailable.

This is the public art page for CIBC Square. https://cibcsquare.com/explore/ Nothing new announced here.
This City of Toronto document outlines the Public Art program available or being installed at CIBC Square.
Nothing appears at the location, but A) we can see the plinth installed and B) renderings show a sculpture here. If I had to guess, this is above and beyond the mandated public art so it's being installed at the discretion of the developer and/or property management firm.
Given how visible it'll be across from Union Station with hundreds of thousands walking by, I hope that it's at least as ambitious as Jaume Plensa’s Dreaming outside EY Tower.

It's been a hot and dry stretch of weather since they installed it, so some rain would probably help! The grass is looking really rough! Hope it is just dormant and will come back.

Love that warm lighting! I wonder if we will seem some protection for the base of the bottom of the "Tree of Gondor". I could see grass lawn trimmers damaging it over time.
