The rooftop bar/ event space is what I like as it would provide great views over LV and be used year-round!

I don't see the necessary need of expanding Lamport in such a way as it is so close to BMO. If the Argos have issues at BMO they'll have the same issues at Lamport. If BMO is going to sit at ~30K it makes sense that Lamport sits in that ~8-12K area to soak up whatever events cannot fill BMO.

As you say, where does the money come from? If the Argos are going to be punted from BMO I imagine they end up somewhere outside the city and not north a few blocks. The new NSL team wants to play out of Lamport but, again, where does the money come from to renovate Lamport? It cannot host anything in its current state and needs a major overhaul.
I don't know, the Wolfpack used to host games at Lamport and they were bumping, before the pandemic killed them. I want to say they averaged like 6k - 7k fans.

If the NSL team gets 5k people, it could definitely work at Lamport. Likely depends where their fan base comes from in the city

It can absolutely be renovated as long as the City is willing to move / remove the parks on either side. It's a large enough site to build a much larger stadium. The block Lamport is on is around 9 acres - BMO field is around 8.5 acres in footprint right now with relatively similar dimensions.

The real question is where the money would come from.
No one is putting money into renovating that concrete dump.

How was BMO downgraded for TFC because of the Argos? Legit question
Scuttlebutt is field quality, as well as the inability to install north stands. Of course, the way Toronto FC have played the past 5 seasons, they aren't running into capacity issues.

Anyway, I don't expect Argos (or TFC) to vacate BMO Field, so this is a lot of hand waving and what-ifing

Just in case you missed it @GenerationW
I imagine he does not.

After he posted that I was searching online for anything of that sort. I can only find the opposite claim that American football does more damage, which is generally accepted by those in and around sports.

Several years ago the NFL stadium series was played at Wembley, which was Tottenham’s home at the time (following demolition of Three Point Lane 🤣). In weeks following, pundits and commentators were appalled by the state of the pitch.

Generally the worst pitches in the UK are the ones that are groundshares with rugby clubs. Wigan had a notoriously poor pitch when they played Premier League, to the extent that they had to spend a hundred thousand pounds relaying the pitch prior to a visit from Manchester United. Coventry City had a poor pitch when they shared with Wasps before they went into administration (and especially after they hosted Commonwealth Games rugby). More recently, poor pitches at Euro 2024 were blamed on NFL games in Germany. Perhaps just a coincidence!

Yes. However I would say that the long-term future of the Argos and CFL seems less certain. The CFL has existed in recent decades almost entirely because of its broadcast deal with TSN (Bell) for $50 million a year which expires after 2026, with apparently no one else in Canada bidding. Bell has been selling off its non-core assets, including its part of MLSE, meaning Rogers inherits ownership of the Argos (as part of MLSE) despite having never shown any interest in the CFL.

Hopefully they'll include an park tree-lined walkway on the east side of BMO field from Exhibition Station to the future "Science Centre" and "Ontario Place" or whatever it will be there at the lake. Instead of the current asphalt desert adventurers would have to safari across.
I posted this before, but reposting again. The more people know about the plan, the less likely it would disappear.

Last I checked, we are finishing our planning last year and work would start soon. But honestly there isn't a lot of info.

Gareth Wheeler of OneSoccer claims the City blocked plans for a permanent south stand expansion. Anyone have any ability to confirm this?

Assuming they'd have to relocate Princes' Boulevard to accommodate a permanent expansion.
There's really no demand for a permanent south stand expansion right now.
