Does anyone know what the plans are for the old library building once its functions are transferred to the new site? It's a reasonably handsome building, though I'm not sure how modifiable it would be for other uses(other than maybe a community centre). And as parking lots have been invoked, here's my slightly off-topic contribution: I've always thought that the plaza and parking lot across the street from the current library were an utter disappointment(I'm old enough to remember when there used to be a Red Barn' restaurant on the corner and the current plaza building was a dairy, lol). This site would be ideal for a mid-rise residential development...imagine a well-designed tower with a curved podium of street-level retail that follows the unique line of the site. A slight setback from the street corner, with room for perhaps a fountain or sculpture, seating and vegetation, would help create a welcoming public realm and contribute to transforming what is currently nothing more than a busy intersection into a dynamic urban square/piazza akin to St. George's Square. Of course, a reduction in the number of traffic lanes and dedicated bikelanes physically separated from traffic by a vegetation barrier wouldn't hurt either.

I...think this is the crane for this site. I was searching for a long time trying to figure this out, but they match. I took this yesterday from a train.
