An Architect who is clearly concerned about the design relationship to the street and on Jasper Avenue wants to incorporate LRT access into the building design for developer advantages (direct weather protected access to HUB @ UofA) and a refurbished sidewalk-expanded area along Jasper. Edmonton could certainly use more Architects with this kind of sensibility.

What's wrong with the current access?

A narrow staircase prevents people from loitering on it. It seems to work for its purpose?

I'm more concerned about the narrow sidewalk next to the LRT entrance, and whether people feel comfortable walking through that.

When that portion of Jasper Ave is redone I am certain wider walk ways will be installed.

To get an idea how tall the other tower will be, the very peak of that crane should be an approximate plateau.

I hope that they consider redoing Jasper from 106-109st while Phase 2 is being constructed as it would be a shame to have construction for the tower and then 2 more years for ripping up Jasper. But given past strategy with Jasper Avenue, I suspect it will be the latter.
