Now, I absolutely DESPISE sour cream with a passion, but green onion flavour on its own?? ITS THE SHIT.

I meant the snacks you twit! LOL
Ooops! The Doritos are in every grocery store, and they actually taste way better than I was expecting. The Ridgies I think were from Freshco, and they also exceeded my strict expectations as a chip connoisseur.

Last week I also tried the new PC brand World of Flavours Korma chips, and they sucked. I took one bite and immediately threw out the whole bag.

Not generally a Doritos person.....but I might give them a go on your say so.

That's good to hear, I really like a good chip w/a curry-type vibe, I miss the ones from Sensations from a few years ago and Neal Bros.

Thanks for saving me the time and a dime as I was thinking of trying those, but now will not.

Where did procure the green onion ones from your March post?

I miss the old Marks and Sparks 'Spring Onion Crisps'.

I feel the exact same way about Sour Cream chips as you.

Never understood why someone doesn't make a good garlic chip. Garlic is a good flavour.

You sometimes see roasted garlic, but that's always 'tastes like nothing'.

The green onion Lay's were purchased at Starsky in Mississauga. They have a very good selection of European chip flavours that are impossible to find anywhere else. I really wish there were a place closer to downtown that would carry stuff like that because I hate going to Miserysauga. The place makes my eyes water from the overwhelming anti-urban ugliness that abounds.

Agreed on sour cream - I hate it with a passion in anything, or any flavour that promotes a sour taste, in anything, not just chips. Even all those sour craft beers annoy me to no end. I think that's why I hated those Korma chips so much - I detected some ingredient in there that made me think of sour cream. And as someone who generally loves Indian food, it's extra disappointing when Indian-inspired chip flavours can't get it right.

Garlic is amazing! I think there might be some European Lay's with garlic flavour that were quite good, but I'll have to confirm. Last year there were garlic Doritos that were pretty decent, but there was an underlying sweetness that bothered me. Keep sugar the hell away from my chips!

I liked that store............but I'm not willing to hike that far just for grocery.

I did write to them and encourage them to expand...... of course, they went to Hamilton first.

This year's big investment from them is doubling the size of the one on Dundas in Mississauga to 50,000ft2.

They're looking at a 200ft long service counter......

They are in the market for more locations, but without outside capital, its probably adding one at a time for the next few years.

Send them an email asking for a sensible location in Toronto!

Yeah, it's a wonderful store, but the locations are a real bummer. The deli counter is virtually unmatched. Expanding the main store eh? That makes it obvious that they're taking over the neighbouring old Staples location right next door that shuttered last year...

I would love for them to open a proper downtown or downtown-adjacent store in Toronto, and frankly I'm a bit surprised that they haven't. Roncy or BWV would make the most sense to me as they have significant Easter European demographics, but I can't think of any obvious spaces that could host a larger grocery store on those strips, unless they'd be content with smaller square footage, something like those new urban No Frills that have been popping up recently.

Ditto for Denninger's - I wish they would open a downtownish store rather than have all their locations in far flung suburban plazas, UGH. Such dated thinking.

The space that was 'rumoured' to be a Farm Boy but won't be in Bijou might still be available.

Alternatively, this site could be an interesting coproduction with a developer: (green p lot east of Jane Stn; its ~40,000ft2)

I love that idea, as it would also eliminate an ugly surface lot simultaneously! Bijou eh? That could work too...

The one hold for a grocer, on that site would be no underground parking (subway is directly below). So loading and any parking would be -at grade, with the supermarket on level 2, and a grade entrance, maybe with cafe.
