I think it’s fitting that Ovechkin is about to break his goal record during a time when Canada views Gretzky as a traitor. Couldn’t happen at a better time….I’m sure people in Canada will be elated.
Wouldn't go that far. Ovechkin has his own problems with how big of a supporter of Putin he is.

Photos to follow at some date

Looking at both sides of the bridge, September is looking as a miss date, especially on the US side and possibly October.

Lot more road area around the Canadian side is now open to the public and better shots than my last visit. Most of the fencing on the bridge for the Canadian side ln place with most of the US side missing. 1-4 cameras on every other light pole to every pole in many places. Part of the Canadian tower still in place with the US tower still fully in place, The big crane is ready to remove the crane and maybe taking place now,

All king material is on the US bridge section with nothing on the Canadian side that I could see. Lots of safety netting under the US bridge side and the centre section with nothing for the Canadian side. I-75 is a mess for the bridge work as well serval other major roads around the bridge area.

Saw one Gordie Howie Bridge sign about 30km from Windsor.

Photos from the official website - Both of the main red and blue tower cranes (on the Canadian and American sides respectfully) came down this week! You can really start to appreciate the architectural beauty of the bridge towers and cables now.

To be correct on the tower cranes, the Canadian tower was started to be removed in May with a small section still standing under the bridge on June 11. The US tower was still up on the 11th with the with crane boom assembly to remove the crane laying on the ground as note in my photo above.. The 4th photo shows the crane removing the tower crane sections after the tower crane removed sections to where the crane could do the rest. The first 3 photos were shot before May.

Regardless if the tower cranes were up. the cables span really stood out and more so with the Canadian tower gone. With the US tower gone, it will standing out more. The only place you can get a good shot of the bridge over the river is on the US side now as there are no legal locations now on the Canadian side ground level.

If you could walk over the Ambassador Bridge, you could get a real good shot of the bridge.

Looking forward to having my first trip over this bridge went it opens, but not on opening day.

Are they painting the towers? It was unclear in the renderings.

Part of me likes the pure white cables intersecting the textured concrete in the towers, but another part of me would like the entire bridge to glow white in the daylight.

I don't think so as they would be doing it now with the opening a few months away. Also, since the piers are next to water, and like most bridges these days, paint not allow on them over water for environment reasons and don't want flake of chip paint falling into the water.
