Trump learned last night that all his gaslighting about how great the economy is and how the United States "is the hottest country" didn't work and won't work. Americans are struggling with higher prices, and it will only get worse. Let's hope the democrats win massive majorities in the House and Senate next year. If that happens, the first order of business will be the impeachment of Trump in the House and conviction in the Senate, and then the forced eviction of Trump from the White House, hopefully streamed live on television.

This is an interesting interview with a psychologist who analyzes Trump's personality disorders. Trump has the worst personality disorder a person can have. Trump is a malignant narcissist, an element of which is sadism. Trump gets satisfaction from causing misery for others. He is enjoying the misery he has caused by denying SNAP benefits to 40 million needy Americans. No doubt he is enjoying the misery he is causing Canadians as he takes a sledgehammer to our economy.

I'm honestly a bit amazed that a sleazeball like Cuomo managed nearly 42% of the vote.
...looking at the glass half full though, Mamdani last reported has 50.4 percent of the popular translating to over million votes:

And his victory shout out to Cuomo was a brutal evisceration:

Looks like the reality that Mamdani will win tonight as Mayor of NYC is making Trump melt down even more!
My cheeky side was hoping that Mamdani was going to open his victory speech with “Allahu Akbar, mudderfuckers!” and give Trump a coronary.
Proposition 50 has passed in a landslide in California.... Democrats will gain 5 seats!
And there’s no guarantee that Texas’ gerrymandering will gain the Republican five seats.

+3 amongst those making over $200K/year. Lawyers, bankers, doctors, etc. Those anti-Badiali's women would have voted for someone like him.

GOP did so poorly last night that they lost their supermajority in Mississippi.

I was flipping through to News12 Brooklyn last night when the polls were being counted. Someone at Cuomo's election night HQ went on a rant about Sliwa costing Cuomo the election (forget that Eric Adams was still stupidly on the ballot and able to pick up over 6000 votes, FFS), and bringing "communism" to NYC to doom them all—ignoring the fact that Mamdani was already holding a majority.

Only fair, given that despite meekly chastising his own crowd from booing Mamdani, he threw in a whole lot of insinuation in his:

"We are a nation of laws, and we believe in law and order, and we need the police to keep society safe. We will not make the NYPD the enemy. We cherish, we cherish our diversity. And we have no tolerance for discrimination of any kind by race, religion, sexual orientation, or creed, and we will not tolerate any behavior that fans the flames of anti-Semitism or diverse attacks. "

It showed me the Dems have been playing Republican-lite for way too long, and that progressive Candidates don't need the backing of the gerontocracy above them (if they need the party at all). If the Democrats don't take this wake-up call soon, the party's gonna die in its sleep.

Effectively what AOC was saying last night. If the older Dem admins don't allow for younger progressive candidates then the Democratic Party will simply die. The amount of pushback that Mamdani got from Dem officials was ridiculous when he's the clear way forward.

A lot of Dems are going to get the wrong ideas from Mamdani's campaign and are going to try his publicity stunts during mid-terms seeking the same results. Voters didn't support Mamdani because he was walking around in public or going to gay clubs - voters supported him because he had a progressive message that resonated with voters, particularly with low-income voters and those under 30. A lot of his policies go against the corporatist wishes of the Dem admin, though, and so they'll need to decide whether they want to win elections or if they simply want to receive donations from corporations until they're no longer relevant.
