My worry is that all the rhetoric is going to lead to the people who have the charisma and can draw the kind of votes needed for a decisive win to lead the party out of something like this will be targeted with more than just words.

People have fetishes, novel romances and weird things in their closet, even among the right. This should not be surprising or unique…even if it contradicts their stated views and politics. Therefore, it should never be assumed so automatically that this has any motive in them for doing awful and murderous things.

Even the Daily Mail–which isn't exactly the paragon of non-sensationalist news–has done an article on the roommate as of 10am this morning, and wasn't able to corroborate that Robinson and the roommate were in a relationship, or that his roommate was transgender at all. The Daily Mail did go so far as to sensationalize that they can't confirm there wasn't a "transgender motive".
