Guess that second amendment isn't really all that it's set out to be.
Domestic deployment of military and/or federalizing National Guard personnel without the request or approval of a state governor is unusual, but is legal and has precedent. It was done during desegregation in the 1950s and I believe during the 'George Floyd' protests in 2020. The federal Posse Comitatus Act sets out the conditions. There is also a federal Insurrections Act.Rumor has it that Trump intends to send active duty Marines to LA.
Under normal circumstances this would get the president charged with Treason but with Trump.. he will be allowed to do whatever he wants.
I wonder though.. if Trump does send active duty troops to LA based on his crusade against immigrants, what will the response be in Washington.
You may have hardcore GOP politicians backing him but I can't see using active duty troops against the US population going over well.

I'm not sure what it would take for Republican in Congress to find a hill to die on. They've had a number of opportunities.
To many American minds, it's not the US populace. To conservatives, Trump's using the military against people who cannot vote, are not entitled to be in the country, and who should just go home.If Trump uses the military against the US Populace and public opinion turns they may act.

And to Trump's credit, the number of illegal crossings into the USA are at historical lows. The US populace may well consider the harsh medicine worth it. If only Biden had taken the border this seriously, Trump may have lost.

It's interesting to note that legitimate border crossings are going down too. I wonder why...To many American minds, it's not the US populace. To conservatives, Trump's using the military against people who cannot vote, are not entitled to be in the country, and who should just go home.

Let's be clear, that bill was not needed. None of what Trump has done to successful essentially eliminate illegal border crossings and to identify, detain and deport people residing illegally in the USA was done through legislation. Everything Trump is doing, Biden could have done without that Jan 2024 bipartisan bill. And Biden knew it, but still chose the slow legislative route through Congress. Which begs the question, knowing how long it takes to get any legislation through Congress, why didn't Biden present his bipartisan bill on immigration and border security in Jan 2022, rather than 2024?Trump scuttled a Jan 2024 bipartisan bill on immigration and border security so that he could campaign on this
That's intentional. Much to the worry of those in the tourism trade, the US administration does not want visitors of any sort. "It's not a big deal".It's interesting to note that legitimate border crossings are going down too. I wonder why...
Let's not go full Godwin just yet. Yes, there are genuine UN Convention Refugees that deserve hearings, but those who've overstayed their visas or otherwise entered the US illegally are not fleeing state-sponsored genocide. They're by far economic migrants from countries that have gone to shite. When my family decided to leave a failing UK, my Dad applied at the Canadian High Commission in London and waited his turn. That's how it's done. And if Canada had rejected us, we would have stayed in the UK, or considered applying to other countries. So, if the US rejects your, and perhaps every LATAM's application, that's their right, and you have no right to enter the US illegally because you don't like their decision....I mean, it's almost like refugees who where fleeing the Nazis in WW2 most likely did not want to cross over into Germany to get away. Immigration "problem" solved! /s
Godwin does not have an issue of calling things out for what they are, particularly of late...That's intentional. Much to the worry of those in the tourism trade, the US administration does not want visitors of any sort. "It's not a big deal".
