All my investments are down. People are now losing money because of this idiot.

This "Trump crash" seems like it's going to be worst than the "Covid crash". The markets recovered fairly quickly in 2020, but this feels different.

I am actually debating pulling my Mutual Fund from TD because of it. I am losing my shit.

That's stupid talk. Now's the time to throw money into the market, especially dividend stocks like Canadian banks. If you don't need that money until 3-5 years from now you'll make off like a robber.

Mine too. It's feels so much different than the covid crash. This is a “train wreck” caused by the lunacy of one man.

Back to the UHN announcement.....the official press release is out now:

I wonder if FIFA may reallocate some of the games given the political climate.
The U.S. would object to any reallocation and FIFA president Gianni Infantino is a big Trump fanboy so that's unlikely.

I’ve just returned from an industry sales event in Florida that normally attracts buyers and vendors from across the globe. But there were almost no visitors from Asia, none from south of Texas I could see, and few from Canada. I expect the US World Cup venues will be giving away tickets to locals just to fill the seats.
They're a bit lucky in that there is so much domestic interest with various Diaspora groups that the ticket sales shouldn't be an issue. Where they will suffer though is the economic impact that foreign visitors would've brought to the various regions hosting games. The predictions of huge economic benefits from this world cup were mostly based on boosts to hotels, restaurants, etc. from foreign visitors.

Sounds like an ideal opportunity for a kettling trap, with ICE agents located at the exits to target any brown/latin folks ( aka most US soccer fans ) for immigration and citizenship checks. Even if you're an US citizen, if you can't prove it at that moment, ICE can detain you until you can. I'd be staying away regardless of any status.

Interesting. Two years of funding is frankly not a lot. So I bet they're hoping that the next federal government gives a huge bump in grant funding through CIHR (which is years overdue)

The Premier was in attendance as were Ministers. I would imagine there will be something (one would hope) in the long overdue provincial budget.

The fiscal year started April 1st.

So we're running the province on LG's warrants......unless there was enough money in the last set of supplementary spending estimates to carry us.

I expect, using tariffs as the cover.......the province will blow an even bigger hole in the deficit........tbd. If they do, lets just hope its well spent.

I would note there own expert panel recommended twice as large an increase to post-secondary as was funded.

This would be a good chance to make up something like 1/3 of that number as general per student funds, 1/3 as research/grad students, and the remaining third offered as matching funds for endowments but time-limit
that to 3 or so years..........then redirect it along the lines above.
