International trade can be thought of at the global or national level, but it exists at the individual company level. Any company that wants to trade with diversified (aka non-American) markets will, of necessity, have to tool or re-tool to the requirements of the customer. It may entail two product lines. We are never going to completely be economically divorced from the US. Forcing domestic consumers or domestic-supplying industry to switch to some EU standard 'just cuz' makes little sense.Hill to die on?
Noun. hill to die on (plural hills to die on) (idiomatic) An issue to pursue with wholehearted conviction and/or single-minded focus, with little or no regard to the cost and no intent of equivocation or compromise.
Who's claiming that? In my post I'm suggesting that if we're moving to more global trade we would consider using the UOMs of the rest of the world.
The Conservatives tossed 3 candidates today on controversial statements, with a fourth speculated coming in Newfoundland.PS: And thank you CCP for upping the ante on that... /s

Buried leed there that it is only about self-employed workers, and the banks have have always made it difficult for them to get mortgages and make them jump through many paperwork hurdles already. Not much is changing here. From the UT News Roundup this morning...

Banks more likely to deny mortgages for workers threatened by Trump tariffs, brokers warn
One of the Big Six banks said it would tighten lending criteria for self-employed borrowers in "high-risk" industries, with other lenders expected to follow suit.www.thestar.com
(Pay walled! Sorry.)
...it is my hope once Carney establishes his party after a hopefully electoral win that he would make sure that burdens of the "Liberation" tariffs are not passed on to the consumer. Or at least made sure that they have as little effect and impact on the same as possible. It's not the consumers' trade war and they shouldn't be having to flip the bill for it...and the article above suggest they will be in an example, IMO. /sigh
Not quite. Still active against Canada and Mexico apparently.Tarrifs? They're gone again! What a gong show.
