Petition to the Prime Minister

Whereas:

  • Elon Musk has engaged in activities that go against the national interest of Canada;
  • He has used his wealth and power to influence our elections;
  • He has now become a member of a foreign government that is attempting to erase Canadian sovereignty; and
  • The attempts of Elon Musk to attack Canadian sovereignty must be addressed.

We, the undersigned, citizens of Canada, call upon the Prime Minister to revoke Elon Musk's dual citizenship status, and revoke his Canadian passport effective immediately.

Though this might make us all feel better, it really achieves nothing and there are MANY far more odious people with Canadian citizenship. There are more important things to do but if Mr Musk ever breaks Canadian law (as opposed to being a dick) then this could be considered.

I can tell you the trade barriers on booze are non-trivial and imposes real costs. Just the limitations on bringing alcohol across provincial boundaries quite aside from sourcing requirements (sales within each province attributing to the provincial liquor board) creates friction. It would make things much simpler if provinces just taxed at point of sale based on alcohol content or somesuch.

The Trudeau gov't out this morning announcing the first binding, signed deal on Pharmacare with a province, with Manitoba.

They previously announced an Memorandum of Understanding on a deal for BC, but that deal has yet to be ratified.

I'm pleased to see this, but there's little time remaining to get through 9 more deals, plus the territories.

If delivered, I think its a very positive step forward.

What do you guys make of the CANZUK proposal? Frank Baylis briefly mentioned it during the French, Liberal leadership debate.
Not sure how keen the UK would be on it considering how their Prime Minister threw Canada under the bus during his visit to the White House yesterday.

Chrystia, the seemingly likely 2nd place finishers in the Replacing Justin sweepstakes..........

Is going to attempt the American comedy show Hail Mary tonight............ She's on Bill Maher.

This could go ok......but.......

Maybe it is just me but Chrystia Freeland always seemed cold and calculated. She is good at what she does but everything she does is thought out and planned almost as if they are liberal talking points.

The one thing about Mark Carney that I like is that he is not part of the Liberal establishment in the same way a sitting MP or Minister is. He is well educated, has a stellar reputation and I find he talks more freely.

Personality wise, I cannot see Chrystia Freeland going over well in a general election.

She was a regular on the show in her pre-politics days and Maher considers her a friend apparently. So it should go decently i think, his anti-Canada sentiments aside.

Her co guest is Fareed Zakaria, who definitely likes her.
