Ok now I'm even more confused. Ian seemed to indicate that it was in fact not Westrich. Anyone know for sure? I assume Ian does, but maybe he would prefer not to take ownership of this abomination.... lol
Westrich doesn't own it right now (Atco does) but they could certainly sell it to them upon completion, and there's also the subdivision notice mentioned earlier that apparently had Westrich listed as the applicant....

Leston has been average+ so could be worse. Some hope this will end up looking better than the render but without a doubt still nowhere near what we’re seeing at stadium yards

Leston's focus is below market rentals -- if they simply match their previous standards for design then they get a pass. It is actually an excellent location for below market student housing!

Also excellent in the fact that they’re going to develop a lot that otherwise would’ve sat vacant for another 20+ years.

Some developers have it; some don't!
But like, isn't this evidence that architecturally speaking, Leston doesn't have it? You might have confidence that it'll turn out better than the renders, but the renders are all we strictly have and they don't become magically better because it's Leston and not Westrich.

(Not to deny the good things that are in this proposal! Just confused about the huge shift in opinion.)

^ The renderings originally offered up no longer have relevance -- I'm waiting for the new ones coming from Leston which by current standards from each -- Leston vs Westrich -- gives me more faith in what Leston will offer vs the disintegrating standards evident by successive Westrich proposals. We will have to wait and see was Leston has in mind. The original renderings -- now outdated -- were crap on a popsicle stick no matter who was the developer (to be clear).

All the info we have is that it was never a Westrich project, including the renders, we all just assumed it was given the blue accenting and their recent work in the area. For all we currently know, they are still accurate and this is Leston's plan, unless you've got other information. I sure as hell hope they aren't accurate, but other than the assumptions made on this forum, what makes you think they are outdated renders?

Personally all I can say is that if this was Westrich, I would have been massively disappointed because of their track record in other parts of the city (mind you that seems to be slipping a bit into the wood stick developer realm too). I'm still disappointed now that I know it's Leston, but at least I can't say I'm surprised by what they are planning to develop...this is their MO. Still a massive missed opportunity, but somehow it makes it better that it's not a company like Westrich that should know better.
