Reading up on Sipiwiyiniwak candidates:

I think that Troy Pavlek has endorsed both Okokude and Morgan, and both are pretty closely matched with me on the Taproot survey.... slightly concerned that the vote will split between them and Rice will get re-elected.
I don't know anything about Morgan, but I have worked with Funke Okokude on a Financial Literacy project. She is a stand up person and one of the hardest workers I have ever met, she is very good at staying in message for her employer and finding creative ways to support people. I think she would be an excellent councillor and I do hope she wins.

Similarly, Jackie Liu in Pehesiwin is someone I really appreciate. Haven't worked as closely with him but every interaction has been super positive.

For those in Ward O'Day min, the Milner basement advance vote took all of 5 minutes today.

GET OUT!

People collecting signatures for the Forever Canada petition out in front of the library as well. Not sure about other advanced voting locations.

Add: Voting at Hazeldean Community League for papastew also very easy. 👍

Also people collecting signatures for Forever Canada.

Did anyone attend the O'Day min candidate forum last night?

Yup I did. It was full

Better Edmonton candidate (Hammerschmidt) was a no-show. Anand made a (half) joke that Cartmell ordered him to stay away to quite large laughter/applause.

Knack was at the forum in the audience.

Just 3 candidates - Pye, Stevenson and Miller.

How was the candidate performance?

Cherie Klassen has stepped down as executive director of the Old Strathcona Business Association after eight years in the role. In a statement, Klassen called her time leading the business community both rewarding and challenging. During her tenure, she oversaw the association’s growth, guided it through the pandemic, and helped secure over $700,000 in grants and sponsorships.

With both Cherie and Puneeta stepping down, hopefully we see some motivated leaders step up to work with the new council.

Other candidates like Walters and Jaffer not too happy about this (noting that 70% ish of Edmontonians say they want change and yet two current councilors getting the media time).

Do we have any polls more recent than from last week? Any informal scuttlebutt? At this point I'm happy with either Walters or Knack, provided Mr. UCP doesn't get in and don't wanna "squander" my vote (how I hate that so often I vote against rather than for, but such is life).

Unfortunately most of the polls besides (and sometimes including) Leger tend to be half-baked or biased. I doubt we're going to get anything better than the September polling before election day.

No new polls.

I voted Knack because it appears to be a two horse race between Knack and Cartmell.
